Fantasy Hockey Week 8 Waiver Wire Forwards – 11/28/23

The waiver wire is a great place to find hidden gems that will help your fantasy hockey team in the short term and sometimes the long term as well. You have likely already taken advantage of this through the first seven weeks of the season. Regardless, there should still be strong options on the waiver wire at forward that we will look at. Even if it is only for a few games, these players are worth adding to help your team out. This is the place where you can find good options to take advantage of before anyone else in your league does.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 8

Thomas Hertl, San Jose Sharks

On what is a very bad San Jose Sharks team, Thomas Hertl has been one of the only contributing players this season. He was even the only driving force on the offense in the first number of horrible games. Now that the Sharks are finding their way and winning some games, he is still a big part of the offense as he is pretty much the only experienced offensive player with any prowess.

Hertl has four goals and 16 points in 21 games on the season. That’s a high percentage for a team that has just 34 goals while he’s been in the lineup. He is the first-line center and on the top power play. Not only that, he plays 21 minutes a night and is heavily relied on. Hertl will hit all categories in fantasy and he has four assists in the last two games. Because he is on the Sharks, this hasn’t made him very attractive until lately.

Lawson Crouse, Arizona Coyotes

Lawson Crouse has been about goals this season. His career high is 24 which came last season, but he is already at 10 goals in 19 games this season. He has actually logged less ice time with some of the new additions this season but has been much more effective since those players are better than he’s used to playing with.

Crouse is shooting more, which has resulted in goals. He plays a physical game as well and for a forward, lays his body on the line more than others. After a very slow start offensively to the season, he has been on a very strong goal streak. The Arizona Coyotes’ winger has scored a goal in five of his last six games and nine of his last 12, recording all of his goals during that span. The Coyotes are better than many thought and Crouse is one of the reasons for that. He is a nice all-around player for fantasy hockey.

Gustav Nyquist, Nashville Predators

Speaking of players on a tear, Gustav Nyquist has done very well for himself and his team this season. Like Crouse, he started the season slower, but Nyquist has settled into the Nashville Predators and is rolling. He is on an eight-game point streak where he has recorded two goals and eight assists.

Nyquist has scored 20 goals in his career four times and even reached as high as 60 points in a season one time. He has the offensive ability and there are not many options to turn to on a defensive Predators team. This veteran is one that the team has counted on and a reason why they’ve been getting better results lately. Since he has done so well, the Predators have moved him up to the top line with Ryan O’Reilly and Filip Forsberg where he will only produce more. I am confident he will keep up this pace for at least a while.
