MLB Injury Report – Top 50 Player on the Way Back?

Here is the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Tuesday, May 14, 2024. In today’s edition, Rhys Hoskins injured his hamstring, Christopher Morel injured his toe and TJ Friedl injured his thumb. All of that and so much more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report for Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Rhys Hoskins – 1B Milwaukee Brewers (hamstring)

As Hoskins mentioned above, he felt his hamstring grab at him and will undergo an MRI at some point today. He said that he felt it once he made the turn at the first base bag. Once the team knows more about the severity of the situation, they will reveal any plans and timelines that they see fit. At the end of the day, mind you, it would appear that Hoskins will miss time on the Injured List.

Luis Robert Jr. – OF Chicago White Sox (hip)

All of the aforementioned plan will take place once Robert gets himself closer to running near 100%. As it stands, they are aiming for him to be at 90% running speed to allow him to begin playing games in Arizona. From there, a lengthy rehab appearance is in the works. While those seem like a lot of steps that need to take place, it could all come together quickly as well. It all depends on how well Robert can adjust and recover.

Christopher Morel – OF Chicago Cubs

While this injury might be more of a DTD sort of thing, he did suffer a knee injury on the weekend. Compounded together might lead to at least a day off to recoup, but there’s a chance that he is off for more than one. The team will have updates later today, but fantasy owners should be prepared for some sort of short absence at minimum.

Adbert Alzolay – RP Chicago Cubs (right forearm strain)

While having a forearm strain is ominous in its own right, it’s important to note that Alzolay suffered this same injury in September and took a few weeks which to return. Since that quick recovery, he has not been the same, as his command has been shaky at best. This, alongside the fact that the Cubs last night traded for a right-handed reliever, suggests that Alzolay will be out of action for a significant amount of time.

Jung Hoo Lee – OF San Francisco Giants (shoulder)

Lee has already been placed on the Injured List with a dislocated shoulder. We should know more about his future later today after his meeting with the doctors last night. That being said, the odds are that the team will be without him for quite some time. Their already depleted outfield takes another massive hit here.

Jorge Polanco – 2B Seattle Mariners (hamstring)

There wasn’t much news on this developing situation, other than he was lifted from the game. Polanco has dealt with a multitude of lower body injuries, so this should not be taken lightly. Stay tuned.

J.P. Crawford – SS Seattle Mariners (oblique)

Crawford suffered the injury at the end of April but has been steadily progressing ever since. While his rehab appearance won’t be a short one, it likely won’t be lengthy either. His return seems quick in nature due to the fact that oblique injuries are tough to manage.

Austin Riley – 3B Atlanta Braves (side)

Riley went in for some imaging last night, and it turns out that his injury likely won’t require a trip to the Injured List. Instead, his maintenance will be of a DTD nature where it will be seen how he feels on a daily basis. This is the best possible news for the team and for fantasy owners everywhere.

TJ Friedl – OF Cincinnati Reds (fractured thumb)

This is such a bad luck sort of injury, especially given the context of him having returned from a different fracture beforehand. There is no timetable for a return, but this will likely be a multi-week absence that could extend into multiple months. Friedl has just 22 at-bats all season.

Evan Carter – OF Texas Rangers (back)

This was positive news as the team will hopefully see Carter back soon enough.

Nathan Eovaldi – SP Texas Rangers (groin)

Eovaldi was once projected to return by the end of his stay on the Injured List, but now it appears that he will progress to throwing from a mound by then. Still, despite it being a slow development, it’s one in the right direction.

Wyatt Langford – OF Texas Rangers (hamstring)

Langford continues to progress slowly, but that is partly deliberate by the team as well given how important he is for their future. He is still projected to return sometime in June.

Alek Thomas – OF Arizona Diamondbacks (hamstring)

It’s been a disheartening development here for Thomas, who was seemingly well on his way back to the Diamondbacks after a lengthy absence. Now, he will need to rest up in order to allow the injection to settle into his body and take effect. Chances are that he will be back in the lineup at some point in June.

Zack Gelof – 2B Oakland Athletics (oblique)

Be prepared.

Pete Fairbanks – RP Tampa Bay Rays (finger)

This explains why Fairbanks wasn’t used last night. All fantasy owners can breathe a big sigh of relief.
