Below you will find the 2024-25 Fantasy Basketball point guard rankings as voted on by the Fantrax basketball writers. The rankings are compiled with 8 or 9-category fantasy leagues in mind. Happy drafting!
2024 Fantasy Basketball Point Guard Rankings
Tier 1
1. Luka Doncic (DAL)
2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC)
Luka and Shai are unquestionably the two best fantasy point guards in the game. Having either on your fantasy team would be fantastic. Which one to pick comes down to personal preference – Shai is better in percentages and turnovers, and Luka in assists and points.
Tier 2
3. Tyrese Haliburton (IND)
4. Donovan Mitchell (CLE)
5. Stephen Curry (GS)
6. LaMelo Ball (CHA)
7. Trae Young (ATL)
I think Haliburton and Mitchell have a chance to break into the top tier of point guards. However, both come with an injury risk. Curry’s days at the absolute top are behind us but he’s not visibly falling apart just yet either. LaMelo is a high-risk high-reward pick – if he stays healthy, he will probably be as good as the top guys in this tier. Trae Young is Trae Young and has a pretty solid track record of being Trae Young.
Tier 3
8. James Harden (LAC)
9. Kyrie Irving (DAL)
10. Devin Booker (PHO)
11. De’Aaron Fox (SAC)
11. Jalen Brunson (NY)
Kyrie Irving had a relatively drama-free season in 23-24, however, he still only played 58 games due to injuries. James Harden should up his usage significantly with Paul George leaving the team and Kawhi managing his injury.
Tier 4
13. Tyrese Maxey (PHI)
14. Damian Lillard (MIL)
15. Dejounte Murray (NO)
16. Ja Morant (MEM)
17. Fred VanVleet (HOU)
18. Cade Cunningham (DET)
19. Jamal Murray (DEN)
20. Immanuel Quickley (TOR)
I have high hopes for Dejounte Murray and Immanuel Quickley out of this group. These two have the highest ceiling. Ja Morant is back, of course, with a point to prove. Cade Cunningham has not yet established himself and will be a more speculative pick.
Tier 5
21. Darius Garland (CLE)
22. Anfernee Simons (POR)
23. Tyler Herro (MIA)
24. CJ McCollum (NO)
25. Coby White (CHI)
We’re moving into the territory of more limited players now. Hopefully, you’ll have at least two of the top 20 players listed above. Garland is hamstrung by the presence of Donovan Mitchell. I bet he was hoping for a Mitchell trade. Simons is talented but average. Herro and McCollum have some reasons to believe in a strong season(but aren’t real point guards). Coby White, despite a hot run last year, might find himself in a diminished role in Chicago.
Tier 6
26. D’Angelo Russell (LAL)

28. Jalen Green (HOU)
29. Terry Rozier (MIA)
30. Jordan Poole (WAS)
31. Austin Reaves (LAL)

If we imagine that the NBA has 30 teams then these players would be the equivalent of the worst starting point guards (in fantasy). It will be really interesting to see how Jalen Green’s season pans out. He certainly pops out as a player with tremendous upside potential. For a more solid pick, look towards… I guess Austin Reaves. Jalen Suggs is too limited offensively to put his mark down in fantasy, though you might want his specific talents on your team regardless. Scoot had a very poor year. If you really squint your eyes and only look at the two final weeks of the season, you might talk yourself into Scoot. Jordan Poole – c’mon now.
Tier 7

These are the late-draft guys to get for a very specific need. Caruso for defensive stats, Jones for assists, Sheppard for shooting and rookie potential, etc.

A mixed group of players – some clearly better than others. I like the potential of Brogdon, Daniels, and Wallace.
