G5 Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Jalen Kitna – University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB)

Fantrax Rostership: 4%

Total Fantasy Points: 124.4

Fantasy Points Per Game: 31.1

Jalen Kitna has been on a tear the last two weeks. He has put up 33.2 and 57.7 fantasy points in his last two games. In those games he has combined to throw for 788 yards, eight touchdowns and only one interception. The Blazers have UConn this week. Georgia State just threw for 265 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. I like Kitna’s matchup this week and beyond. Kitna enters his playoff run against Memphis, Rice, and Charlotte. Katin Houser – East Carolina (ECU)

Fantrax Rostership: 10%

Total Fantasy Points: 87.8

Fantasy Points Per Game: 21.9

Katin Houser took over as the Pirates’ quarterback in Week 8.  Against Army, he threw for 282 yards, three touchdowns and had one interception. While he is not a rushing quarterback, he did add one touchdown on the ground. In Week 8 he put up 39.4 fantasy points. He followed up that performance with a 44.15 fantasy point showing in Week 9. He threw for 269 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. East Carolina is coming off their bye and they have a juicy schedule to end the year. That juicy schedule starts with Florida Atlantic (FAU) tonight (Thursday). FAU has allowed 882 yards passing and eight touchdowns through the air over their last three games. Houser has thrown for 551 yards and eight touchdowns in his last two games. Katin Houser is a great G5 Waiver Wire pickup for you to use tonight and in your playoff run.

Running Backs

George Pettaway – James Madison (JMU)

Fantrax Rostership: 25%

Total Fantasy Points: 117.5

Fantasy Points Per Game: 14.7

George Pettaway and JMU are coming off a bye week. Prior to the bye, Pettaway had a 23.3 fantasy point outing against Southern Miss. Over the last four games he has not had a game under 60 yards rushing or under three targets. He is averaging 17 opportunities per game (rushing and receiving) and 104 yards per game. Pettaway offers a nice floor in Week 11 against Georgia State. The Panthers allowed 156 total yards to Mel Brown (UConn), 115 total yards to Marshall Ahmani (App State) and 207 total yards to A.J. Turner (Marshall) over their last three games. All of those individuals were also able to find paydirt. Sign me up for a big George Pettaway game in Week 11. Pettaway is one of my favorite G5 Waiver Wire names this week. For your playoff run the Dukes have dates with Old Dominion, Appalachian State and Marshall.

Jevon Jackson – University of Texas El Paso (UTEP)

Fantrax Rostership: 25%

Total Fantasy Points: 95.8

Fantasy Points Per Game: 10.6

Don’t judge a book by its cover or a player by their fantasy points per game (ppg). Jevon Jackson’s 10.6 ppg can be deceiving. In his first six games, he saw 65 rushing attempts for 239 yards and zero touchdowns. Over his last three games, he has 69 rushing attempts for 343 yards and one touchdown. UTEP is only scoring 16.56ppg as a team. Ten of their touchdowns have come via the air and seven have come via the ground. UTEP plays Kennesaw State in Week 11 and the Owls have been stout against the run lately, allowing only one rushing touchdown inside the red zone. I wouldn’t expect a touchdown from Jackson in Week 11.  However, if you happen to get one, it’s the cherry on top to his already stable floor.

Wide Receivers

Kam Shanks – University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB)

Fantrax Rostership: 13%

Total Fantasy Points: 115.7

Fantasy Points Per Game: 14.5

Kam Shanks has seen an uptick in usage over the last three games. With Jacob Zeno at quarterback (four games), he had 19 receptions on 23 targets for 163 yards and one touchdown. Since Zeno’s injury, Jalen Kitna has been quarterbacking the last four games. With Kitna under center, Shanks has 22 receptions on 33 targets for 323 yards and three touchdowns. He has also seen three rushing attempts for 21 yards vs zero attempts in his first four games. Kitna has an average depth of target (ADOT) of 7.7 yards. Shanks has an ADOT of 6.1 yards and 9.1 yards after catch per reception. UAB is getting the ball to Shanks close to the line of scrimmage and letting him to the rest.

Omari Hayes – Florida Atlantic (FAU)

Fantrax Rostership: 12%

Total Fantasy Points: 87.4

Fantasy Points Per Game: 12.5

Omari Hayes has seen 25 targets over his last three games. That is a 25.8% target share. I may need to remind you he missed their matchup with UTSA due to injury. In those three contests, Omari has no game under five receptions or 70 yards receiving. He is averaging six receptions for 99 yards over that stretch. As mentioned above, the Owls have a date with ECU tonight (Thursday). Prior to their Week 10 Bye, they allowed two Temple wide receivers to have over 80 yards and a touchdown each. Ashton Allen and Landon Morris combined for nine receptions, 190 yards receiving, and three touchdowns. While the Owls are finding touchdown success on the ground and not the air, I believe Omari Hayes is a nice G5 Waiver Wire pickup for you this week.
