Week 8 G6 Risers: Four Waiver Adds to Make Before Tuesday

Welcome to Week 8 G6 Risers: Four Waiver Adds to Make Before Tuesday. Week 7 is in the books. So, it’s time to raid the waiver wire again. A few of these names will look familiar. That’s not me running out of ideas, though. Instead, it’s me being right early and waiting for your league to catch up.

First, we have a quarterback who runs like a running back. Next comes a running back I’ve been pushing since September. Then there’s a freshman receiver sitting near 30% rostered. Finally, we have the most dependable tight end on the G6 wire. Of course, he did make me look silly last week. Waivers run Tuesday, so let’s get to Week 8 G6 Risers: Four Waiver Adds to Make Before Tuesday.

There’s no such thing as too much football! 2026 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!

Four Waiver Adds to Make Before Tuesday

Quarterback

Jacurri Brown, Rice

Fantrax Rostership: 11%
Total Fantasy Points: 127.9
Fantasy Points Per Game: 18.3 (6-point passing TD)

Jacurri Brown needs to be picked up this week. Over his last five games, he has scored 29.64, 26.86, 25.12, 0.74, and 27.28 points.

Yes, I see the 0.74 against ECU. We don’t talk about that one. After all, every résumé has a typo. Brown fixed his right away with 27.28 points last week. One bad game in five is not a trend. However, four games of 25-plus is.

The appeal is his legs. In fact, Brown ranks fifth in the nation in quarterback rushing attempts. He has 118 carries for 668 yards and six touchdowns. He is the engine of Rice’s option attack. As a result, he will carry the ball 16 or 17 times a game. Most running backs would love that workload. Plus, you get it with quarterback scoring attached.

Now look at the matchup. Rice gets FAU in Week 8. The Owls allow 34.65 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. That is the second-worst mark in the nation. For a preview, watch what Army’s Cale Hellums did to them. He ran for 195 yards and five touchdowns. Honestly, FAU tackling a running quarterback looked like someone catching smoke with a butterfly net.

I’m not promising five touchdowns. Still, the blueprint is right there. Rice has the quarterback to follow it. Go pick up Jacurri Brown. After you acquire him, watch his availability; he got banged up late in Week 7, but if he is a go, fire him up!

Running Back

AJ Newberry, Oregon State

Fantrax Rostership: 22%
Total Fantasy Points: 126.1
Fantasy Points Per Game: 18

I have written this name week in and week out. At this point, I’m the friend who keeps pushing a TV show. Meanwhile, you keep saying you’ll get to it. Maybe this is the week you finally listen.

AJ Newberry scored 33.5 points last week. Also, he has 14 or more in each of his last four games. He dominates the Oregon State backfield on the ground. But his work as a receiver is what sets him apart.

How involved is he? For starters, Newberry is fifth in the nation among running backs with 4.57 targets per game. That’s good for 43 receiving yards per game. Overall, he averages 102.71 yards per game, which ranks 25th in the nation. On top of that, his weighted opportunity share sits at 87.96. That is not a committee. In other words, this backfield has one name on the door.

Oregon State is on a bye in Week 8. Frankly, I don’t care. Newberry gives you usable weeks, week in and week out. Players like that don’t return to the wire once someone grabs them. So, burn the bench spot now and thank me in Week 9.

Wide Receiver

Rasean Jones, Boise State

Fantrax Rostership: 30%
Total Fantasy Points: 71.5
Fantasy Points Per Game: 14.3

People may have forgotten this name. But they shouldn’t have. Rasean Jones sits right at 30% rostered. After this week, that number needs to climb.

The true freshman averages a team-high 6.8 targets per game. He turns them into 4.8 catches for 73.2 yards per game. In addition, his 21.5% target share leads the Broncos.

Now for the fun part. Boise State plays Washington State in Week 8. The Cougars allow 39.83 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. That includes 26 points per game to outside receivers alone. Simply put, that secondary has been about as sturdy as a screen door.

Granted, two outside receivers usually share those 26 points. Even so, Jones leads the team in target share. Because of that, I expect him to get the majority. That’s why he’s on Week 8 G6 Risers: Four Waiver Adds to Make Before Tuesday.

Tight End

Cole Keller, James Madison

Fantrax Rostership: 22%
Total Fantasy Points: 73.5
Fantasy Points Per Game: 10.5

You know Cole Keller by now. He has been on my sicko list and in the risers. At this point, he’s a regular.

Last week, I said, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Keller had four targets in three straight games. Naturally, I predicted four more. Wrong. He had two. So much for my career as a psychic.

Still, he caught both for 54 yards. He also nearly broke one for a touchdown. Even when the volume dipped, he produced.

Let’s be honest about Keller. He’s the fourth option on his team, which isn’t sexy. In fact, he’s the minivan of tight ends. Nobody brags about it, but it starts every morning. Over his last five games, he scored 19, 11.1, 6.5, 20.8, and 7.4 points. When you need points from tight end, you can count on him.

JMU plays App State in Week 8. The Mountaineers allow just 6.38 points per game to tight ends. So, this may not be a peak week. That’s fine, though. You’re adding Keller for the matchups after this one. For that reason, he rounds out Week 8 G6 Risers: Four Waiver Adds to Make Before Tuesday.

The Bottom Line

Overall, the common thread is a role you can trust. Brown has 16 or 17 carries baked into his floor. Newberry owns his backfield and catches passes too. Likewise, Jones leads his team in targets as a freshman. Meanwhile, Keller produces even when his volume dips.

Need a quarterback? Then Brown is your first add. Otherwise, make Newberry your first stash, bye week and all. Next, grab Jones for the best receiver matchup on the wire. Lastly, add Keller if you’re tired of guessing at tight end.

That wraps up Week 8 G6 Risers: Four Waiver Adds to Make Before Tuesday. Get your claims in before waivers run. I’ll be back Thursday with my sicko list. Until then, good luck in your Week 8 matchups!
