Week 13 Tight End Rankings for Fantasy Football

With no bye weeks to account for, the Week 13 tight end rankings feel more stacked than usual. Jonnu Smith has elevated himself into TE1 territory, as has veteran T.J. Hockenson and jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill. There are also a couple of solid streaming options that can pad your stats this week. To find out which tight ends have the best opportunities to succeed, let’s turn to the Week 13 tight end rankings and notes.

Injury Notes for Week 13

  • Dalton Kincaid‘s Week 13 status is up in the air. A knee injury cost him Week 11, but he had two weeks to recuperate with the Bills’ Week 12 bye. Dawson Knox will have an expanded role if Kincaid can’t suit up. Monitor injury reports as the week progresses.
  • Jake Ferguson is likely out in Week 13 after suffering a concussion in Week 11. Luke Schoonmaker will get another start in Week 13. He filled in nicely for Ferguson last week, catching three targets for 55 yards and a touchdown.
  • Ja’Tavion Sanders suffered a scary neck injury last week and is questionable for Week 13. Tommy Tremble will start if Sanders misses time.

Tight End Notes

  • Cade Otton is coming off one of his worst starts of the season, catching one of three targets for 30 yards. However, he’s in a prime position to bounce back in Week 13. He gets a juicy matchup against a Carolina defense giving up the most fantasy points per game to tight ends. The Panthers’ sieve-like defense has surrendered the most touchdowns and the third-most receiving yards to the position. We shouldn’t be too concerned with Otton’s low target total last week, as Baker Mayfield spread the ball around more than usual. Indeed, Otton has at least eight targets in six of his last nine games, commanding a healthy 21% target share in that span. Fire up Otton with confidence this week.
  • Hunter Henry isn’t flashy, but he continues to be heavily involved in the Patriots’ offense. He has an 81.1% route rate participation on the year and his 74 targets rank fourth-most at the position. Henry has at least eight looks in four of his last six games and should continue to be peppered with targets against the Colts in Week 13. Indianapolis is tied for the most receptions allowed to tight ends this season. They’ve also given up the seventh most receiving yards and fantasy points to the position. Henry has only one touchdown on the year, but he’s a stable floor at a volatile position, which boosts his fantasy value. Henry is a top-tier TE2 with TE1 upside in the Week 13 tight end rankings.
  • Pat Freiermuth is one of the better streamers this week. He faces a Bengals team allowing the third-most fantasy points and fifth-most receiving yards to tight ends this season. Cincinnati has been especially shaky in the end zone, with four tight ends finding paydirt in the last five weeks. Freiermuth can’t be counted on for more than four targets. But his eight red-zone looks are second behind George Pickens, so he could find his way into the end zone. Freiermuth ranks as a mid-tier TE2 with upside in the Week 13 tight end rankings.
  • It’s time to start paying attention to Noah Gray. He reeled in eight catches on nine targets over the last two weeks, combining for 89 yards and an incredible four touchdowns. His 14% target share in that span isn’t game-changing, but his four scores are. Up next is a favorable Week 13 matchup against Las Vegas. The Raiders have ceded the second-most touchdowns and fantasy points to tight ends this year. They’ve also surrendered the sixth-most receiving yards to the position. Travis Kelce is still the big dog in the tight end room for Kansas City. But Gray is earning more looks from Patrick Mahomes, which is a good thing. Plus, the Chiefs could start to rest Kelce as the team gears up for the playoffs. Gray is a worthy dart throw in the Week 13 tight end rankings and is a nice stash moving forward.
