Just one week into the season, and we have already learned a ton when it comes to fantasy football and what dynasty trades we should make. We also finally have snap shares and stats to put next to player names. Some players that I mentioned last week, including Emeka Egbuka and Tetairoa McMillan, look like they will be future stars at wide receiver. Travis Hunter was also an insane Jaycee Horn interception from a long touchdown. So all three impressed last week.

However, I didn’t have a perfect start, and it looked rough for rookie running backs at the beginning of the season. Kaleb Johnson had only one carry and appears to be third on the depth chart. TreVeyon Henderson played 35% in Week 1, but things will turn around for the first-year running back, and he is a potential dynasty trade target. The same goes for Omarion Hampton, who secured 80% of the snaps but only scored 8.1 PPR points. He looked willing in pass protection, and the Chargers had him on the field a ton, an RB1 in the making if he holds onto that snap share. We learned a good bit about the rookies in the class, but the primary focus of Week 1 would have to be the running back resurgence.
Week 2 Dynasty Football Trade Suggestions
Breece Hall and Travis Etienne are RB1s ROS
Nobody had this on their bingo cards just a week ago. And I do not believe either of their Week 1 performances was a fluke. Hall looked great behind that improved Jets line and was one of only three running backs to eclipse 100 yards this past week. Hall looked like his 2023 self, where he finished the year as RB2 in total PPR points. And Etienne outright won the committee with Tank Bigsby being traded a day after the game. Etienne played 61% of the snaps and had a 71-yard run to set up a Jaguars score. This offseason was rough, but if managers held onto either of these running backs throughout the offseason, despite the negative buzz, props to them.
As for trades, now is the time to do deals for either of these talented running backs. A mid to late first-round pick should secure a deal for Breece Hall, while an early second-round pick plus a player should get a trade done for Etienne. Both of these runners were in the top five in rushing yards over expected in Week 1. That is an encouraging sign that they are both back to peak form. This trade suggestion is not an overreaction to Week 1, as the positive signs were highly encouraging. Contenders should send out offers for both of these guys with confidence.

Buy the Saints Offense
The Saints looked decent against the Cardinals. Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Juwan Johnson all had productive games against the Arizona Cardinals. They also landed in the perfect game script with Spencer Rattler throwing the ball 42 times. However, the team looks like they will be in that scenario many times this season. Kellen Moore has shown us he can run a capable offense with Rattler at the helm, so the arrow for the Saints offense should only be pointing up.
Hold Kenneth Walker
Speaking of not overreacting to the first week of the season. Walker was the player who generated the most buzz in the dynasty trade landscape this week. A 40% snap share for a player who was getting picked in round four of redraft leagues, and getting traded for first-round picks in dynasty. The concerns popped up early in the game, but everything only got worse. Zach Charbonnet had earned the goal-line work, the two-minute drill, and the passing game work. It is a true committee with Charbonnet as the lead back. Walker could still be nursing an injury, but two yards per carry does not inspire confidence. At this point, Walker is a must hold, and managers must hope he starts to earn his role back or looks more explosive.
Conclusion
As far as sells go, I would only sell a high-profile player if I am getting a haul in return. Or someone like Josh Downs, if someone in your league still believes. Zay Flowers or Keon Coleman could also fit the bill if they net a haul after that crazy primetime game. However, I am not letting myself get any further ahead than that.
This week is the time to gauge the market, but it’s also important not to get too carried away with trades just one week into the season. Do not be afraid to accept a reasonable offer if one comes your way, but do not force things.
Next week, we will receive more answers, as two weeks of sample size provides significantly more data than just one. So, don’t go overboard because your offseason takes did not hit right away; there is always time for things to turn around, especially in Week 2 of the NFL season.
