Fantasy Football Week 6 Start and Sits: Quarterbacks and RBs

As we get into my Week 6 starts and sits of the week for quarterbacks and RB, we also hit a big bye week. That means no Jahmyr Gibbs, Chase Brown or Joe Burrow. So if you are 0-5 going into the week, then you are going to need to pay attention to these starts and sits.

Week 6 Starts and Sits

Quarterback Starts

Drake Maye, New England Patriots (vs. New York Jets)

Drake Maye is officially back now. It took a few weeks, but in his last two weeks, he has seven touchdowns and one interception. In his first three weeks, he had only one touchdown and six interceptions. Something has changed for the better, and Maye is not officially a must-start every week.

Patrick Mahomes II, Kansas City Chiefs (vs. Los Angeles Chargers)

Patrick Mahomes II has looked great this year for a quarterback going late in drafts. The Chargers defense has been good against fantasy quarterbacks, but they are on the road this week. The Chiefs play exceptionally well at home and are averaging 32 points in two games at home.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. Houston Texans)

Trevor Lawrence has been all over the place this year, but he has been consistent, though many people have been dropping him. He has three games scoring 20 or more and just one game scoring 10 or less. He does have a slightly tough matchup against the Texans this week, but the Jaguars have been rolling, winning three in a row. I expect Lawrence to step up to the change this week.

Quarterback Sits

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders (at San Francisco 49ers)

I do not like this matchup for Jayden Daniels this week. The 49ers are only giving up 13.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. Daniels did look great in his first game back, rushing in for two touchdowns. But that was against the New York Giants. That will be a different story on the road against the 49ers.

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. Carolina Panthers)

Jalen Hurts is a risky start every week. Most of his offense is hurt, with DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley being banged up. Though both might come back this week, this Eagles offense looks all sorts of out of whack. I would not risk starting Hurts, who hasn’t scored more than 14 fantasy points since Week 2.

RB Starts

Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams (vs. Arizona Cardinals)

Kyren Williams has been amazing this year, even with Blake Corum eating into his production. He is averaging 14 carries a game along with 33 targets as well. He has been extremely active in the passing game this week, totaling 200 yards and one touchdown on 27 receptions. Division games are always tough, but expect Williams to show out once again.

Javonte Williams, Dallas Cowboys (at Green Bay Packers)

Javonte Williams has an amazing matchup this week going against the Packers. The Packers are giving up 26.4 fantasy points per game to RBs, which is the third most. Javonte Williams is also one of the few bell cow RBs. This season he has six touchdowns and 276 yards. I wouldn’t sweat his mid-tier performance last week. This week will be different.

RB Sits

Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. Houston Texans)

The Texans are only giving up 14.5 fantasy points per game to RBs. That is the fifth lowest in the league. I do not like those numbers for Bhaysul Tuten, who has yet to break 20 fantasy points this year.

Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders (vs. Buffalo Bills)

I want Ashton Jeanty to show what he can do, but he is only averaging 3.3 yards per attempt. He went off in Week 1 and, since then, has only a high of 15.6 fantasy points. Normally, I’d love this matchup as the Bills are giving up the second most fantasy points to RBs, but I do not trust Jeanty or the Raiders this week.
