Starts and Sits for Week 6 IDP Fantasy Football

The NFL is wildly unpredictable. Look no further than what did and did not happen in overtime between the Giants and Commanders. The impossible-to-forecast nature of the NFL is part of the reason we love it.  But it also makes deciding who to start and who to sit in your IDP fantasy football league a challenge.

In Week 5, we saw #2 overall pick David Bailey break out with three sacks for the Jets, Saints safety Jonas Sanker (owned in just 0.4% of ESPN leagues) force a fumble and return it for a touchdown, and Browns linebacker Quincy Williams force not one, not two, but three different ball carriers to fumble.

One outstanding performance that, in hindsight, we should have seen coming was by Bengals safety Jordan Battle. Before playing the Dolphins, he told the media that the Bengals had picked up on a tell in Malik Willis’ throwing mechanics. Battle then went out there and picked Willis off twice in Cincinnati’s 31-24 win.

Hopefully, like Battle did last week, we, too, can call our shot heading into Week 6.

IDP Players to Start in Week 6

Josh Hines-Allen, Jaguars DL

Hines-Allen doesn’t have a sack since Week 1, but the former Top 10 pick will have plenty of chances on Sunday. The Jaguars will be staying in London, their home away from home, to take on the Texans. Houston attempts the 6th most passes in the league, which means more opportunities for Hines-Allen.  Plus, Texans quarterback CJ Stroud is not exactly known for his escapability. Stroud has been sacked 14 times this season (tied for the 6th most in the league)

Despite not having a sack since Week 1, Hines-Allen is still 10th in ESPN’s pass rush win rate metric. He is an IDP start for me with a favorable matchup across the pond.

Payton Wilson, Steelers LB

The third-year linebacker has scored double-digit fantasy points in four of his first five games this season. He’s a good bet to make it five of six this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa’s first-year offensive coordinator Zac Robinson comes from the Sean McVay tree and is committed to the run game. The Bucs have the 7th-best rushing attack in the league (133 yards per game).

Wilson should rack up tackles against Tampa’s run-first approach, which makes him a definite start this week in IDP.

Cole Bishop, Bills DB

Bishop should see a boost in his production this week against a Raiders team that is eighth in the league in completions. Most of those receptions go to non-wide receivers, too. In fact, no team in the league funnels more targets to tight ends and running backs than the Raiders (59%). That stands to reason because the biggest threats on the Las Vegas offense are Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty.

Bishop is an IDP start because he’ll have ample opportunities to help stop Jeanty in the run game. Plus, he is going to see a lot of Bowers and TE2 Michael Mayer when the Raiders drop back to pass.

IDP Players to Sit in Week 6

Odafe Oweh, Commanders DL

Oweh played 56 snaps against the Giants last week and did not register a point in IDP. Surely, he’ll get on the stat sheet in some capacity this week against the 49ers, but I wouldn’t bet on him recording a sack. The Seahawks are the only team that has sacked Purdy this season.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is known for his defensive acumen, but Washington has simply not been able to create an effective pass rush this season. The Commanders are 24th in the NFL in sacks with just eight. Oweh has two of them, but he’ll be facing an uphill battle to get one this week on Monday Night in Santa Clara.

Sit Oweh in Week 6 in your IDP fantasy football league.

Foyesade Oluokon, Jaguars LB

Oloukon finished as the seventh overall player in IDP last season. Not only is he a great tackler, but he’s a force in coverage as well. No linebacker defended more passes than he did in 2025 (11).

He is a fade for me this week because the Jaguars are playing a Houston Texans team that barely runs the football. The Texans are 26th in the league in rushing attempts and 31st in rushing yards per game. Once the run game stalls, CJ Stroud starts slinging it.

In two games against Houston last season, Oluokon had just 15 total tackles and one pass defended.

He’s a tough player to leave on your bench, but don’t be afraid to sit him if you have a comparable option with a better matchup.

Tre’von Moehrig, Panthers DB

Moehrig is a proven tackler (100+ the past two seasons) who disrupts plays behind the line of scrimmage. In fact, he was the only defensive back to record 10+ tackles for loss in 2025.

He’s a great player who will be playing against a reeling Eagles offense (31st in yards per game) that is returning from London. You would think that this has all the makings of a smash start for Moehrig, but inept offenses like Philadelphia’s don’t stay on the field. No offense in the NFL has gone three-and-out more than the Eagles.

Sit Moehrig only because he won’t have many chances to make plays against Philadelphia’s porous offense.
