Also, players get injured, news breaks, and we know more today than we did yesterday. So, let’s take a look at a few options on the fantasy basketball waiver wire that could help improve your team before we get started on another exciting season.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire

Kyle Kuzma, F, Milwaukee Bucks

Are we really going to start this dance with Kuzma? Given his talent and expected starting role, the veteran should be on our radar. However, inconsistency has been an ongoing trend throughout his career. Last season, Kuzma averaged just 13 points a game, but he peaked at 22.2 three seasons ago. He should have a similar role, with over 30 minutes per game, as he had in Washington that season. Kuzma struggles from the free-throw line, but with an expanded role, he should be good for seven rebounds and four assists per game.

Duncan Robinson, G/F, Detroit Pistons

Might as well start this now. If you are in need of three-pointers, it’s almost inevitable you find your way to Robinson or someone similar. The veteran is expected to start for the Pistons to begin the season, but regardless, he should be good for 25 to 30 minutes per game. We know he’s going to knock down three or four three-pointers per game, and we can’t overstate the impact of that in the standings. The problem, though, is that, while he scores in double digits, Robinson isn’t good for more than a handful of rebounds and assists.

Obi Toppin, F/C, Indiana Pacers

Toppin is likely to be the first big man off the bench for the Pacers. He’s versatile enough to cover all three front-court positions, but it also remains to be seen how the Pacers truly deploy him. What we know is that after just 24 games last season, the forward is now healthy and primed to take the next step in his career. Despite playing just 18 minutes per game, Toppin set career highs across the board with 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. If you’re looking for good things to say about Toppin, he shot 50.3% from the field and 91.3% from the free-throw line. There’s a lot to like here, and if the playing time goes up and the production is proportionate, look out.

Gui Santos, F, Golden State Warriors

No, we can’t dismiss Santos’ production at the end of last season. Yes, a slew of Warriors were injured, so Santos got a chance to show what he can do, but that doesn’t mean the production shouldn’t stay with the forward. During that stretch, he scored about 14 points per game to go along with five rebounds. He also showed the ability to be a distributor with 3.6 assists per game. We can’t truly draw conclusions about a small sample size. However, Santos can also generate some steals and knock down a few three-pointers per game. He’s now back in the starting lineup for the Warriors, and Santos could be a strong source of production.
