The positivity in terms of both bankroll and vibes came to a sudden stop last week. I missed all three of my player props for the first time this season. That puts me slightly in the red (10-11 overall) for the first time this year. I don’t expect that to last long, and I’m looking to get back on track. With that in mind, here are a few of my favorite NFL player props for Week 8.

NFL Player Props for Week 8
Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts: OVER 30.5 Passing Attempts (-130, BetMGM)
The matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars looks like one of the most lopsided on the Week 8 board. Jacksonville is 4-2 and coming off a bye after two straight games overseas. Meanwhile, the Colts are already in sell mode. They traded two of their best players (guard Quenton Nelson and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner) this week, and rumors are swirling regarding several others. The Jaguars are double-digit favorites, which means Indianapolis will likely be playing from behind. That is a big reason I am taking Colts quarterback Daniel Jones to surpass his passing-attempt threshold on Sunday.
I like this player prop for other reasons, too. Jones has gone over this number in six of seven games already this season. That includes two of his last three contests with at least 42 pass attempts. I believe that matters because only two Colts drives in those two games occurred while the team trailed by multiple scores. While Jonathan Taylor is the team’s engine, Indianapolis does not shy away from letting Jones dink and dunk around the field in the passing game. Taylor’s impact may also be mitigated by facing the Jaguars.
Jacksonville ranks first in the NFL in both EPA (Expected Points Added) and DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) against the run this year. They have yet to allow a 60-yard rusher this season and have not allowed a 75-yard rusher since 2024. The Jaguars are a bit more susceptible to the pass, ranking 13th in EPA and 12th in DVOA. Indianapolis may want to feature Taylor, but I don’t think that will last long in this matchup. Between Jacksonville’s run defense and the expected game script, this feels like a spot where Jones will need to throw a fair amount. Because of that, I expect him to throw the ball at least 31 times.
Ryan Flournoy, Dallas Cowboys: OVER 35.5 Receiving Yards (-110, Fanatics)
My next Week 8 NFL player prop is for Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy to exceed 35.5 receiving yards. Flournoy has gone over this number in four consecutive games as he has effectively replaced Jake Ferguson as Dak Prescott’s third option in the passing hierarchy behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Prescott has connected with Flournoy on 18 of 22 targets during this stretch. That chemistry should keep building when the Cowboys host the Arizona Cardinals.
Arizona’s defense has shown flashes, but they have been routinely attacked in the passing game. The Cardinals rank 32nd in DVOA and 30th in EPA versus the pass, while placing in the middle of the pack against the run. Arizona has allowed the most touchdown passes in the NFL while permitting the second-highest yards per pass attempt. Dallas is coming off a short week after a Monday night win in Philadelphia. In that game, running back Javonte Williams carried the ball 25 times. That is the most carries he has had in a game since 2023. Even though Dallas should win, I don’t expect them to run Williams into the ground. Instead, I anticipate a balanced passing attack that lets Flournoy continue his recent stretch of solid play.
I am not opposed to climbing the ladder on Flournoy’s receiving yardage thresholds if you are so inclined. He has recorded at least 70 receiving yards in two of his last three games. Prices may fluctuate between now and Sunday, but you can currently get 70-plus receiving yards at +450 on FanDuel. That would imply an 18.2 percent chance of Flournoy hitting that mark. Even if Flournoy fails to reach that number, I think he has an excellent chance of finishing this game with more than 35.5 receiving yards.
Drake Maye, New England Patriots: OVER 1.5 Touchdown Passes (-126, DraftKings)
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has picked up his play over the past month after a rough start to the year. The third-year pro has thrown for 12 total scores across his last four games. I like that trend to continue when New England travels to Miami to face the Dolphins.
Miami’s run defense isn’t exactly Jaguars-esque, but it’s better than you think. The Dolphins rank fifth in the NFL in EPA against the run. In the pass game, however, Miami is quite poor. They rank dead last in EPA and are 29th in DVOA. The Dolphins have allowed five of six opposing starting quarterbacks to throw for multiple touchdowns. The only one who failed to hit this mark is Kyler Murray. Murray has thrown for three touchdowns in five games, so the Dolphins didn’t do much heavy lifting there. Overall, Miami has given up 14 passing touchdowns compared to just four scores on the ground this year.
New England is also much better offensively through the air than on the ground. The Patriots are in the top-10 in both EPA and DVOA when throwing the ball, but rank outside the top-15 in both metrics in the running game. Maye himself has led the team in rushing in two of their last four games, with third-string running back Cory Kiner leading the team in Week 6. Even with New England’s receiving corps struggling with multiple injuries, Maye will have to do most of the work to get the Patriots into the endzone in this matchup. I really like Maye’s chances of throwing at least two touchdown passes on Sunday.
