Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Streams for Week 6

Matt Coronato (RW, Calgary Flames) Rostered 56%

It’s not just Devin Cooley who has been on fire for the Flames lately. Coronato has nine points (1 goal, 8 assists) in his last six games. Five of those points have come on the power play.

He is now up to 14 points in 14 games – that’s an 82-point pace. He should be owned in a lot more than 56% of pools. Coronato is one waiver claim that could very easily turn into a season-long hold.

Reason to add: Averaging 1.5 points per game over his last six games. Flames play four off-night games this week.

Noah Ostlund (RW, Buffalo Sabres), Rostered 43%

The Sabres play three games this week, all on off-nights. Only the Flames have a better off-night schedule than the Sabres over the next seven days.

Ostlund’s production over the past two weeks hasn’t been spectacular: 3 points. It’s that he’s playing 19 minutes a game and over three on the power play that grabbed my attention. Those are legitimate top-six minutes.

Nine points in 14 games is nothing to sneeze at. Ostlund’s upside is legitimate. While a point-per-game season isn’t in the cards this year, the talent is there for him to reach that level in the future. Much like Coronato, he could evolve from a simple waiver claim into a long-term keeper on your roster.

Reason to add: You don’t find players playing 19 minutes per game and on the first power-play available very often. Three off-night games.

Olen Zellweger (D, Buffalo Sabres) Rostered 43%

If you’re looking for a defenceman that can add a little offence to your roster this week, Zellweger has some value. Like Ostlund, he has a great off-night schedule. Too often, we find ourselves making tough defenceman decisions on busy nights. Zellweger removes the conflict.

He’s not an A+ addition, not with Rasmus Dahlin chewing up all the valuable offensive real estate. Still, Zellweger has three points in his last four games and is playing almost 20 minutes per game.

Reason to add: Great off-night schedule. Has three points in his last four games.

Tristan Jarry (G, Edmonton Oilers) Rostered 52%

This is not a hangover trick from Halloween.

If you’re looking to add starts to your matchup this week, then Jarry provides strong value. The Oilers play three games, no back-to-backs, against the New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks, and Vancouver Canucks.

While those teams are averaging 3.63 goals per game this season, the Oilers have only given up one goal in their last three games. This might be the one small window where Jarry can provide value to a roster.

I got goosebumps just writing his name as an option. In leagues that don’t count GAA or SV%, then grabbing him is a no-brainer. In leagues that do, well, I feel your trepidation. It could be a brilliant add or implode your stats for the week.

Reason to add: 1 goal against in the last 4 games; Jarry is the clear starter with Levi out. Strong chance of taking two wins (Ducks, Canucks)
