Injuries were the name of the game in Week 8. A calf injury prevented Dak Prescott from playing, and while he’s expected to start in Week 9, be sure to keep an eye on his status. Additionally, Jameis Winston tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Other injuries also need to be addressed, so let’s get to my Week 9 quarterback rankings and notes.

Week 9 Quarterback Notes
Week 9 Byes: DET, SEA, TB, WAS
Before we take a look at this week’s matchups, here are some injury situations to monitor for Week 9:
- Jameis Winston tore his ACL and is out for the season. Taysom Hill is the likely starter if he clears the league’s concussion protocol. But, if Hill can’t play, Trevor Siemian will get the start.
- Kyler Murray sprained his ankle in Thursday night’s game against the Packers. Monitor his status during the week. If Murray can’t suit up, the Cardinals will roll with Colt McCoy.
- Sam Darnold is in the league’s concussion protocol. If he misses Week 9, P.J. Walker will face the Patriots in a tough matchup. Neither is an option outside of two-quarterback leagues.
- Tyrod Taylor is day-to-day but could start in a favorable Week 9 matchup against the Dolphins. However, neither he nor Davis Mills is a recommended start in one-quarterback leagues.
Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t play in Week 9. Jordan Love will get the start in a favorable matchup against the Chiefs. Love can be played in two-quarterback leagues this week. He’s also an interesting streaming option in one-quarterback leagues, as the Chiefs have allowed the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
Fire up Joe Burrow this week. Cleveland has allowed 17 passing touchdowns this season, tied for third-most. Burrow loves to throw touchdown passes, throwing three of them in each of his last three games. He’s a top-eight option this week.
Tua Tagovailoa gets a tasty matchup against Houston. The Texans have given up the third-most fantasy points per game, and Tua should be able to take advantage. He’s a strong streaming option in Week 9.
Derek Carr faces the Giants in Week 9. He threw for at least 320 yards and scored two passing touchdowns in each of his past two games. The Raiders are coming off their bye week, and Carr should be able to pick apart New York’s defense.
Justin Fields had his best game of the season in Week 8. He threw for 175 yards, with one receiving touchdown and an interception. But it was his 103 yards on the ground and rushing touchdown that bulked up his stat line. While it was good to finally see Fields excel in the running game, this week may prove to be a little more difficult, with the Steelers giving up the seventh-fewest rushing yards on the season.
