Week 15 Tight End Notes
- Continue to stick with Travis Kelce. He has an ugly 27 receiving yards in each of the past two weeks but gets a tasty matchup this week against the Chargers. On the season, the Chargers have given up the third-most fantasy points and second-most touchdowns to tight ends. Consider this a “get-right” game for Kelce – and just in time for the playoffs!
- T.J. Hockenson missed last week with a hand injury. Keep an eye on his Week 15 status, as he’s coming off back-to-back weeks with touchdowns. Brock Wright and Shane Zylstra split the tight end snaps in his absence, but are not fantasy-relevant. UPDATE: Hockenson underwent thumb surgery on Thursday and will miss the rest of the season.
- Mike Gesicki returns from a bye week with a plus matchup against the Jets. Gesicki is the second-most targeted player on the Dolphins and should continue to fare well this week. Monitor the situation, but if all three of the Dolphins’ running backs remain on the COVID-19 list, Gesciki could see a bump in targets. He’s a top-eight option this week, regardless.
- Pat Freiermuth continues to find the end zone, scoring six touchdowns in the past seven games. While he gets a tough matchup this week against the Titans, Freiermuth is still a low-end TE1 this week.
- It’s getting tough to trust Dalton Schultz, as his targets have dropped each week since Week 11. The Giants are a middle-of-the-road defense against tight ends, but with all Cowboys receivers healthy, Schultz is more of a high-end TE2.
