Best Dynasty Buys for the 2025 NFL Season

The season is right around the corner, but there is still time to make moves in dynasty. Managers are starting to get back into the swing of things regarding fantasy football. So now is the perfect time to make some trades to help improve your squad. There are always ways to improve your team. And it doesn’t matter if you’re contending or rebuilding, there are always moves to be made. Below are four players who are excellent dynasty buys heading into the 2025 season.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.

Favorite Dynasty Buys For 2025

Geno Smith

This suggestion is mainly for contenders, but it can work for rebuilders as well. As Geno will have trade value for when players start going on bye weeks or an unfortunate injury happens.

Contender or rebuilder, no matter how you slice it, Geno is a good quarterback, and it showed in 2024. Smith was tied with Baker Mayfield for 10th in passing grade on PFF. That was behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league as well. Smith still produced, and now he gets a minor upgrade with the line in front of him. He will also have Ashton Jeanty, Brock Bowers, and Jakobi Meyers as his supporting cast. That group of options could be considered better than what he had in Seattle.

The only problem for Smith’s fantasy value is the head coach. Pete Carroll loves to run the football. He also just took a running back sixth overall in this year’s draft. However, it is worth noting that in Carroll’s last year in Seattle, they were 28th in run percentage. Geno Smith also finished as the QB23 in fantasy points per game that season under Carroll.

Moving Indoors

Geno is the perfect QB3 for rosters as he will likely cost a mid to late second-round pick. He will provide spike weeks in a solid Raiders offense and will be quite the value as he gets to play over half of his games indoors now. His stats in a dome with the Seahawks included 30 touchdowns to just five interceptions and a 110.8 quarterback rating. So he will get a considerable boost not having to play in rainy Seattle. This statistic easily makes him my favorite dynasty buy on the whole list. Look for Geno to challenge for a QB1 finish this year.

Isaac Guerendo

The case for Guerendo is simple. Christian McCaffrey is coming off a lost season, only managing to play in four games. The first injury was bilateral Achilles tendinitis, while the second was a PCL injury that ended his season. Jordan Mason was the backup in 2024, but now he is on the Minnesota Vikings after a trade. That leaves Guerendo as the backup, and he showed promise in a limited role. Guerendo finished as the fantasy RB2 against the Chicago Bears in week 14, thanks in part to scoring twice on the ground.

Guerendo is one of the better dynasty buys because McCaffrey’s hype is through the roof. Many are hoping for a bounce-back from McCaffrey as his 2025 average draft position is firmly in the first round. Those managers are banking on the ceiling McCaffrey to return. And if he is healthy, he likely will, head coach of the 49ers, Kyle Shanahan loves to take the workhorse approach. We saw it with multiple running backs last season. However, the already heavy wear and tear for McCaffrey will likely continue to grow even greater for the star runner.

And Guerendo will be waiting in the wings to at least spell McCaffrey if they decide to roll back his touches early in the season. There has been no clear indication that it will happen. Regardless, Guerendo has a profile you want to bet on. He showed out at the 2024 NFL combine as he ran the third fastest 40 yard dash out of any player. He also performed well in the vertical jump, finishing seventh.

The Perfect Handcuff

So he has a great athletic profile, showed promise in his limited time as a starter, and has a guy in front of him who missed 13 games last year. That is precisely why Guerendo is one of my favorite dynasty buys. I’d trade a late second-round pick for Guerendo. He will likely help a contender this season or be traded again for an early second-round pick if he has to start some games. It is a gamble because if McCaffrey returns to form, Guerendo will have just a minor role this season, but would still be well-positioned to earn a bigger workload soon.

Jalen Coker

I believe in Bryce Young and the Panthers this season. I also think that Jalen Coker is too good to leave off the field. The undrafted rookie out of Holy Cross far exceeded his expectations in his rookie year. Having nearly an identical statistical season to first-round pick Xavier Legette. Coker’s rookie season highlight was an 83-yard touchdown against the Cowboys, but what put him on the dynasty map was his performance against the Chicago Bears. Coker totaled just four receptions for 68 yards in that game. However, for an undrafted rookie to come in and prove that in his first real game action signaled that he was worth a waiver claim in dynasty leagues.

Now, in his second year, he has some new competition for targets. Tetairora McMillan enters Carolina as a top ten pick and likely Bryce Young’s new favorite target. That is to be expected, but the competition for the second option is wide open. Along with Coker, Adam Thielen returns for his 12th season, and Xavier Legette looks to build on his rookie year. Coker is staking his claim for that spot, though, impressing in camp after a somewhat bumpy start. He also made the most of his time when Legette got ejected for fighting in the first week of the preseason, Coker replaced him on the field and scored a touchdown in his absence. So Coker is impressing the coaching staff and showing out on the field. There are strong indicators that he has a chance to earn a starting spot on this offense.

An Undrafted Gem

As for his value, you would think he would be valued higher after he finished fourth in yards per route run among the 2024 draft class. The only players he finished behind were Brian Thomas Jr., Ladd McConkey, and Malik Nabers. Those three all had spectacular rookie seasons, and Coker did as well; it just took him time to get on the field.

Coker can likely be obtained for an early-third round pick. For someone with his underlying metrics, he is someone to go out and acquire before the season starts. The depth chart uncertainty is helping decrease his value for the moment. Although if he is named a starter, it might take a late second in value to obtain him. Jalen Coker is one of my favorite buys because the Carolina offense is on the upswing and looked great to close out 2024. If Young and Dave Canales continue to figure it out, Coker will likely be one of the primary beneficiaries behind Tetairora McMillan.

Harold Fanin Jr., Terrance Ferguson, Elijah Arroyo

Three rookie tight ends highlight the dynasty buys here. The reason is that they are all still undervalued compared to the field. All three mainly went in the third round of rookie drafts, with them sometimes sneaking into the second round. And the most shocking part is that none of these three are in the top 15 of consensus rankings, when they all easily could be by the end of the season.

The Rookie Value

Starting with Fanin Jr., it is clear how much the Browns value Fanin already. The coach-speak regarding Fanin from Stefanski gets the arrow pointed strictly upward. If they are going to move him around the formation, he will return immediate value and earn his fair share of targets as a rookie. Fanin’s value is a late-second round pick in a tight end premium, in a weaker 2026 class. I am happy to move off of that for the former Bowling Green star.

If Fanin Jr. is doing well in the coach speak department, Ferguson and Arroyo are the epitome of it. Both teams have stated that their guy should or, in the Rams’ case, could have been a first-round pick. The Rams were prepared to take Ferguson in round one before Atlanta came in with a crazy offer for James Pearce. And Seattle’s front office is consistently saying that if it wasn’t for injuries, Arroyo should have gone top 15 in the draft.

So both players carry endless hype, Arroyo has the better year one opportunity after Noah Fant found his way to Cincinnati. And Ferguson will likely have to wait a year, but will be ready to be one of the favorite targets for whichever quarterback the Rams select in 2026. I am comfortable doing the same deal of a late second for any of these three. They all should return or maintain value heading into next year, and that is why they all three make my dynasty buys list.

Conclusion

Now is the time to make the final tweaks to your dynasty rosters. The window will likely close for a while as teams sort out whether they are contenders or pretenders. My advice is to strike while the iron is hot. Leagues will be getting more active in the next two weeks, and it is the perfect time to make a deal that benefits your squad.
