G5 Waiver Wire Treasures
Quarterbacks
Joe Fagnano, University of Connecticut (UConn)
Fantrax Rostership: 11%
Total Fantasy Points: 188.1
Fantasy Points Per Game: 26.9
For the second straight week, Joe Fagnano set a UConn career-high in passing yards. In Week 8, Joe threw for 362 yards, four touchdowns, while running it six times for 25 yards and another score. Joe has given you fantasy outputs of 38.6 and 46.98 points in his last two outings.
Following these great performances, Joe is now 16th in the nation in passing yards per game with 274. His 15 passing touchdowns are also tied for 18th in the nation. UConn will play Rice this week. Rice is allowing 24.23 points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Joe Fagnano is a G5 Waiver Wire Treasure out of the Northeast in Week 9.

J.J. Kohl, Appalachian State
Fantrax Rostership: 7%
Total Fantasy Points: 82.3
Fantasy Points Per Game: 16.5
J.J. Kohl has started the last three games for Appalachian State. His fantasy outputs have looked like this: 20.32, 36.56, and 24.02 points. During that three-game stretch, he has thrown for seven touchdowns. Kohl is throwing the pigskin 33 times per game while Appalachian State is scoring 35 points per game during that same stretch.
The Mountaineers have a date with the Old Dominion Monarchs in Week 9. Old Dominion is allowing opposing quarterbacks to score 27.79 points per game. Conversely, I have some reservations, as most quarterbacks who have found success against the Monarchs have been mobile. It is important to realize that Kohl is much more of a pocket passer. Nonetheless, J.J. Kohl is a fine Week 9 G5 Waiver Wire Treasure as we make our way down the coast!
Running Backs
Javion Ducker, Temple
Fantrax Rostership: 16%
Total Fantasy Points: 99.7
Fantasy Points Per Game: 14.2
Javion Ducker had an 18.9 fantasy point outing last week. If you listen to my advice last week and picked him up, it paid off. Let’s stay out East in our G5 Waiver Wire Treasures and run it back with Javion Ducker. We have seen Ducker amass 42.0 fantasy points over his last two games.
Simultaneously, he is averaging 15 touches and 85 yards per game on the season. Temple will face off against Tulsa in Week 9. The Golden Hurricane defense is allowing 193.6 rushing yards per game on the season, while opposing running back rooms are averaging 24.91 points per game. Due to these reasons, I would suggest taking a look at Javion Ducker ahead of your Week 9 matchup(s).

Qua Ashley, Ball State
Fantrax Rostership: 16%
Total Fantasy Points: 99.5
Fantasy Points Per Game: 14.2
For now, we have spent enough time digging for treasure out East. Let’s head to the Midwest! Qua Ashley had 20 rushing attempts in Week 8 against Akron while scoring 21.4 fantasy points in the process. Qua is averaging 14 touches and 77 yards per game. At the same time, he has a 14.2% target share for the Cardinals.
Ball State will face Northern Illinois this coming week. Northern Illinois is allowing 181.4 yards per game on the ground and 23.54 points per game to opposing running back rooms. Thus, I believe Qua Ashley is a G5 Waiver Wire Treasure heading into Week 9.
Wide Receivers
Chauncy Cobb, Arkansas State
Fantrax Rostership: 4%
Total Fantasy Points: 93.4
Fantasy Points Per Game: 13.3
Chauncy Cobb is the slot wide receiver and secondary option for the Red Wolves. Over his last three games, he has seen 26 targets and turned those targets into fantasy points, 44.3 to be exact. Cobb is averaging 67 yards per game on the season while demanding a 19.5% target share.
Chauncy Cobb’s 5.9 yards per target, coupled with Jaylen Raynor’s eight-yard average depth of target, makes him an appealing option. Arkansas State plays Georgia Southern in Week 9. Georgia Southern’s defense is allowing 36.40 points per game to opposing wide receiving rooms, which makes Chauncy Cobb even more appealing as a G5 Waiver Wire Treasure this week, especially in points per reception leagues.
Braden Pegan, Utah State
Fantrax Rostership: 22%
Total Fantasy Points: 120.6
Fantasy Points Per Game: 17.2
Now we will head out West to find this G5 Waiver Wire Treasure. Braden Pegan is averaging seven targets and 77 yards per game this season. As a matter of fact, his 77 yards/game ranks 35th in the nation. He is also demanding a team-high 24.7% target share while simultaneously averaging 14.8 yards per target and 2.11 yards per route run.
Pegan has at least 80 yards receiving in four of his last five games. As a result, Braden has delivered double-digit fantasy outings in all five of those contests. Utah State plays New Mexico this week. The Lobos are allowing wide receiving rooms to score 35.91 fantasy points per game against them. Overall, I look for Bryson Barnes to continue to look to his #1 wide receiver as Utah State looks for a Week 9 win over New Mexico.

Tight Ends
Izayah Cummings, Appalachian State
Fantrax Rostership: 30%
Total Fantasy Points: 74.6
Fantasy Points Per Game: 10.7
Let’s head back to Appalachian State for my G5 Waiver Wire Treasure at the Tight End position. Izayah Cummings and J.J. Kohl have been making a strong connection over Kohl’s last three starts.
Another key point is that with Kohl under center, Cummings has seen 18 targets and produced 36.4 fantasy points. As a result, Izayah Cummings ranks 6th in the nation in receiving yards per game with 50.86 yards and is tied for 8th in the nation in targets per game with 5.71. If Izayah Cummings is still floating around your league(s), I would recommend picking him up. In other words, Izayah Cummings could be the biggest treasure out there on your waiver wire(s).
Other Tight End Options
I realize I have picked Izayah Cumming in back-to-back weeks. So in the event you have Izayah already but need another tight end option, here are three other DEEP options:
- Wyatt Sullivan, University of Southern Florida (USF) – 1%
- USF’s Week 9 opponent is Memphis, and the Tigers rank 5th in the G5 in points allowed to the tight end position with 11.31 points per game.
We’ve got another USF passing touchdown this time to Wyatt Sullivan, the former Florida Atlantic Owl

- Max Dowling, University of Massachusetts (UMass) – 0%
- UMass’ Week 9 opponent is the University of Central Michigan (CMU). CMU allows the 6th most points to the end position in the G5 with 11.21 points per game.
- DeCorion Temple, University of Central Michigan (CMU) – 0%
- Likewise, the Chippewas play UMass in Week 9. The Minutemen allow the most points to the tight end position in the G5, allowing 15.7 points per game. CMU does not utilize the tight end position much, but if ever there was a week, it would be this week.
