College Fantasy Football: Week 7 Waiver Wire Gemstones

One of my favorite holidays every year is Indigenous Peoples’ Day. It is nice to be off from school, allowing me to spend the morning writing and editing the College Fantasy Football waiver wire column. It is a welcome timeout from the weekly grind on Sunday evenings in the fall. After another stupendous weekend of gridiron action, VolumePigs, Chris Battistel, and I provide insight into the top players to bolster CFF rosters…Let’s Go!

There’s no such thing as too much football! 2025 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!

College Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Walker Eget, San Jose State (Laub)

Fantrax Ownership: 22%
Total Fantasy Points: 151.3
FPPG: 25.2
PFF Grade: 76.4

Many college fantasy footballers likely forgot about Walker Eget after a horrendous start to the season. San Jose opened the campaign with two consecutive losses (Central Michigan and Texas) before getting its first victory over Idaho. Regrettably, Eget also failed to meet expectations with only three touchdowns and a little more than 700 passing yards, averaging only 14.7 fantasy points per game (FFPG).

Over the last three weeks, the Spartans’ quarterback has been on a heater and is CFF QB4. During his hot streak, Eget has thrown for 1,102 yards (367 ypg) and 10 aerial strikes and averaged 35.6 FPPG. Against Wyoming on Saturday, he passed for 296 yards and four scores, producing 34 Fantasy Points (FPs). Two weeks ago, against New Mexico, the 6-2 and 225-pound senior was named a Manning Star of the Week after an outstanding performance with 334 yards and three touchdowns in the air.

Impressively, three advance stats by PFF bode well for Eget’s future passing performance: a 12.1 aDOT (7th in the FBS), Big Time Throws with 17 (1st in the FBS) and pocket presence with a Pressure Turned into Sacks rate of only 9.4%  Coach Ken Niumatalolo and offensive coordinator Craig Stutzmann will continue to rely on the passing game to win, and Eget is clearly in command. The Spartans’ next three opponents (Utah State, Hawaii, and Air Force) are all enticing matchups for San Jose and Eget.

Notebook: Two weeks ago, Niumatalolo stated that Eget is “a machine and leader by example. He did a great job of distributing the football. He played as well as I’ve seen a QB play. We’re going to be a hard out if he continues to play like that every game.” (sjsuspartans.com)

Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, Marshall (Laub)

Fantrax Ownership: 11%
Total Fantasy Points: 150.4
FPPG: 30.1
PFF Grade: 77.2

Since September 11 (Week 3), Carlos Del Rio has been the CFF QB5 with 149.6 FPs. He has logged 28.1, 42.6, 36.4, and 42.4 FPs and should not remain in the waiver wire any longer. The Thundering Herd’s dual-threat field general has posted an outstanding 11-0 TD:INT ratio and completed over 75% of his throws. Del Rio-Wilson needs to be acquired this week in the vast majority of leagues.

After transferring to Syracuse from Florida in 2022, Del Rio-Wilson spent three seasons in upstate New York as a member of the Orange. In three campaigns, he played in 14 games, starting two, while completing 48 passes for 624 yards and four touchdowns. He also dashed for 148 yards and a score. As a high school recruit in 2012, Del Rio-Wilson was graded as a four-star prospect, No. 16 quarterback in the country, and the No. 14 overall prospect in Georgia. Finally reaching his ceiling as a signal caller this year, Del Rio-Wilson and Marshall should feast on the remaining Sun Belt Conference competition this season.

Bishop Davenport, South Alabama (Battistel)

Fantrax Ownership: 12%
Total Fantasy Points: 133.2
FPPG: 22.2
PFF Grade: 60.5

Over his last three outings, Bishop Davenport is averaging 18.88 FPPG, though that number is slightly skewed by a five-point performance against Coastal Carolina, his worst of the season. In the last two games, he averaged a healthy 25 FPPG, and if you remove that outlier, that’s also his season average. What he doesn’t give you with his arm, Davenport makes up for with his legs. He’s logged thirty carries and a rushing touchdown in each of the last two games, outpacing his first three performances of the year.

Davenport is an addition for me, not only for this week but for the rest of the season. It’s a quick turnaround with a Tuesday matchup against Arkansas State, a game where I’m projecting another double-digit rushing total. Quarterbacks are averaging 29.8 FPPG against the Red Wolves this year, with rushing quarterbacks being especially dominant. Through five games, opposing QBs have combined for 407 rushing yards, and if you look only at true rushing quarterbacks, that total jumps to 127 rushing yards per game. Three of those five outings have seen the quarterback post his best fantasy performance of the season.

Davenport’s remaining schedule is favorable, with only one matchup featuring a defense ranked inside the top 100 according to Fantrax. Regarding Davenport, a winless team does bring some risk, as holding his starting role through the playoffs may not be feasible. Therefore, I wouldn’t go too high on your overall FAAB bids for him.

Honorable Mention Quarterbacks

Mason Heintschel, Pittsburgh

CFF Diehards on Fire!

Who is the top target at quarterback on the CFF waiver wire this week?

  • Anthony Colandrea, UNLV: 23%
  • Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, Marshall: 57%
  • Broc Lowry, Western Michigan: 11%
  • Walker Eget, SJSU: 9%

“Daylight dawned and found me picking up Del Rio!” @aceholesrule

“Marshall figured out the pieces, and the offense has been on fire the past three weeks, led by Del-Rio Wilson!” @CFFLists

“Carlos Del Rio-Wilson for me. A dual-threat QB who is averaging a touchdown on the ground over the last three weeks. In those games, he has thrown for at least two scores and over 200 yards. He has been very accurate and hasn’t had a game under 36 FPs during that three-game stretch.” @ProbascoLuke

Running Backs

Jeffery Pittman, Southern Mississippi (Laub)

Fantrax Ownership: 5%
Total Fantasy Points: 89
FPPG: 17.8
PFF Grade: 74.5

Very quietly, Jeffery Pittman has moved up the CFF RB rankings over the last three weeks. In his past three games, Pittman has exceeded 20 FPs in each. He has toted the pigskin 55 times for 259 yards and six touchdowns in the three Golden Eagles’ victories. Go grab Pittman off the waiver wire immediately.

After high school, Pittman enrolled at Hinds Community College in Mississippi and played for two seasons, from 2021 to 2022. A first-team all-conference member as a freshman, he rambled for over 1,100 yards and scored 23 times. After a second campaign in which he scampered for 651 yards in eight games, he was a three-star recruit and the No. 1 JUCO runner in the nation. He signed with Mississippi State and played two years for the Bulldogs. In two seasons, he did not earn many opportunities in Starkville, with only 54 carries for 268 yards, and did not see the field in 2024. Pittman transferred to Southern Mississippi last December.

Notebook: “(Jeffery) did a good job of being physical. We discussed physicality in the run game, and I thought he initiated that. He made some statement runs. The statement runs are not always the 60 and 70-yard runs. Some statement runs are the 3- and 4-yard runs when you get behind your pads. Those lead to some of those bigger runs down the road,” coach Charles Huff stated two weeks ago (mississippiscoreboard.com).

Dontae McMillan, Eastern Michigan (Battistel)

Fantrax Ownership: 35%
Total Fantasy Points: 124.8
FPPG: 17.8
PFF Grade: 76.8

Dontae McMillan has quietly been a productive running back for fantasy managers; yet, for some reason, we still don’t want to roster the RB16. His FPPG places him as a back-end RB2 or top-end RB3, which is still a rosterable output. With three 100-yard games on the year and a 2:1 target edge over the team’s RB2, it’s been the lack of touchdowns keeping McMillan outside the top 15 scoring running backs. He located the end zone only three times this season (two rushing, one receiving), but he has logged eleven red zone carries, including all four in their last matchup against Northern Illinois. The production is there, and the touchdowns are coming.

In Week 8, the Eagles face Miami (Ohio), a matchup where McMillan will look to post another 100-yard outing. The RedHawks have allowed opposing running backs to average 151 rushing yards and 16.1 FPPG, a number slightly skewed by Akron’s Jordon Grant last weekend. Before that, running backs were averaging 20.2 FPPG against them. I don’t expect McMillan to fall off like Grant did. Eastern Michigan should keep this game competitive, and they’ll do it through their senior running back.

McMillan still has two bye weeks remaining on his schedule, one of them during the semifinals. Like Bishop Davenport, this could end up benefiting fantasy managers who roster him. I’d be comfortable using 20–25% of my remaining FAAB to secure a mid-RB2 with strong flex appeal.

King Miller, USC (Laub)

Fantrax Ownership: 2%
Total Fantasy Points: 55.7
FPPG: 11.1
PFF Grade: 77.8

I could not believe my luck Saturday night when star running back Waymond Jordan went down with an injury. He is expected to miss at least four weeks, according to reports from Los Angeles. Jordan was in my starting lineup on five CFF teams, and his injury cost me two victories by less than five points. To compound the heartbreak, I had Desmond Reid on the bench, and his 40 FPs would have helped me win one of the matchups. Fantasy sports can be heartbreaking at times. Oh, well.

Watching my Wolverines lose, I couldn’t help but notice King Miller stomping on the Michigan run defense. The walk-on runner rambled for 158 yards and a touchdown. With breakaway speed, Miller produced 49- and 47-yard runs in the second half to help the Trojans matriculate the ball into the red zone.

Upon graduating from high school, Miller did not receive any scholarship offers. He walked onto the Trojans last year but did not see any action. A redshirt freshman, he earned only 11 carries for 152 yards, averaging 13.8 ypc, in the first four games of the season. At 6-0 and 210 pounds, King is clearly the primary pick-up for any CFF diehard with Jordan on their roster.

Notebook: After his breakout performance, Miller expressed that “It was all honestly just a dream come true, man. I’m just honestly so grateful.” (latimes.com).

Gabriel Benyard, Kennesaw State (VolumePigs)

Fantrax Ownership: 21%
Total Fantasy Points: 99.2
FPPG: 16.5
PFF Grade: 77.7

Kennesaw State’s offense was clicking last Wednesday, and it was clear, if it wasn’t already, that Gabriel Benyard is their go-to playmaker. He has logged more than 15 FPs in five games this season and reached the finish line in four consecutive games. At 5-10 and 185 pounds, the redshirt senior is used as both receiver and runner, making him an attractive option to stick in at receiver in PPR leagues in particular. Still, he is good in every format, as he averages approximately eight opportunities per game between targets and carries.

Coleman Bennett, Kennesaw State (VolumePigs)

Fantrax Ownership: 3%
Total Fantasy Points: 73.9
FPPG: 12.3
PFF Grade: 71.2

When the Owls aren’t funneling the ball to Benyard, Coleman Bennett is handling ground-game duties. He’s been solid all season, but had his best performance of 2025 versus a stingy Louisiana Tech defense last week, scoring a long reception and ending the day with over 100 total yards on 20 touches, manufacturing 21.9 FPs. The 6-0 and 210-pound Floridian has also recorded over 11 FPs in three consecutive outings. The Owls are unfortunately on bye this week, but return to a very generous-looking second half of the season conference slate.

CFF Diehards on Fire!

On the CFF waiver wire this week, who is the top playmaker to target?

  • WR Camden Brown, Georgia Southern: 14%
  • RB Jeffery Pittman, Southern Mississippi: 9%
  • RB King Miller, USC: 59%
  • WR Demarcus Lacey, Marshall: 18%

“KING ME! KING ME!! KING ME!!!” @aceholesrule

“Before this week’s HUGE game, Camden Brown’s 80.2 yards per game ranked 33rd in the nation. He was second in the nation in redzone targets with four on the year. Brown was CFF WR34 on the year: He is now CFF WR15 for the season. What are you waiting for?!?” @ProbascoLuke

Wide Receivers

DJ Epps, Troy (Battistel)

Fantrax Ownership: 1%
Targets: 28
Fantasy Points: 64.7
FPPG: 10.8
PFF Grade: 74.9

Where NFL fantasy is considered a marathon, college fantasy can be seen as a triathlon, and we’re nearing the end of the 1500m swim before hopping on the bike for the sprint to the finish line. With DJ Epps, your bike could be one of those sleek EV models that make the ride to the finish a whole lot easier. Over his last two games, Epps has totaled 55.7 FPs, averaging 27.85 per game. His sudden surge in usage, with 19 targets and 15 receptions, along with his highlight-reel catches, has made him one of the most sought-after waiver adds this week for me. With his snap share rising steadily, Epps now leads the Trojans in receiving yards with 255. They have a real playmaker at Troy.

The Warhawks are on the schedule this week, and their pass defense has been anything but reliable. Ranked 127th nationally, they are allowing 285 passing yards per game, creating a prime opportunity for Epps to continue his breakout. ULM has allowed 35.8 ppg across five FBS matchups this season, with Arkansas State being the only opponent to score fewer than twenty. From here on out, Troy faces just one defense ranked inside the top 30 (Old Dominion) and has no playoff byes. If Epps continues to operate as the focal point of the Trojans’ offense, he has a legitimate shot to be this year’s waiver wire winner, as long as Tucker Kilcrease remains the starter.

Griffin Wilde, Northwestern (VolumePigs)

Fantrax Ownership: 7%
Targets: 47
Fantasy Points: 32
FPPG: 16.2
PFF Grade: 85.4

Griffin Wilde, the South Dakota State transfer, is ascending into a strong CFF asset in this Northwestern offense. The former 1000-yard receiver at the FCS level has acclimated well so far and continues to get stronger as he learns the speed of the FBS game. Note that his offensive coordinator at SDSU is now calling plays for the Wildcats, so the emphasis on getting him the ball in the offense is not surprising.

Camden Brown, Georgia Southern (Laub)

Fantrax Ownership: 30%
Targets: 52
Fantasy Points: 123
FPPG: 20.5
PFF Grade: 79.1

There are not many better ways to spend a work night in the fall than sitting down at 7 PM and watching a college football doubleheader. Last Thursday, CFF fans could enjoy East Carolina-Tulane and Southern Mississippi-Georgia Southern on a split-screen TV. I had reached College Football Nirvana after four long days in the classroom.

Georgia Southern fell behind by 21 points in the third quarter and made a dramatic comeback before falling short 38-35. While watching, there was no question that Camden Brown was the most physically imposing playmaker on the Panthers. At 6-2 and 200 pounds, the former Auburn receiver snatched 12 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown, which added up to a season-high 33.8 FPs. Brown has been smoking hot this season: He has produced double-digit FPs in every game, and three times scored over 22 FPs. The senior playmaker has recorded 32 catches for 550 yards and six touchdowns this year.

At Auburn, Brown was caught in a depth chart trap and did not appear to have an avenue to gridiron success in 2025. After three seasons on campus, he entered the portal and signed with Georgia Southern. As a Tiger, he made 26 receptions, 289 receiving yards, and three scores. The senior has the tools and size to dominate Sun Belt Conference defenders, and coach Clay Helton’s team will continue to sling the pigskin. Grab Brown for the stretch run this week.

Notebook: “We wanted to add guys with length—long arms, wide catch radii, and the ability to win those 50/50 balls. (Camden) was exactly who we thought he’d be—a big body who can stretch the field and make contested catches. He is more of a lead-by-example type—he’ll speak when he needs…,” coach Helton voiced in the summer (gseagles.com).
