Gameweek 3 Waiver Wire Targets
Here we outline Fantasy EPL Gameweek 3 Waiver Wire Targets that are 40% rostered or below on Fantrax.
Joe Gomez
Position: Defender
Team: Newcastle
Rostered: 11%
Next Fixture: Man Utd (Away)
Prospects: It is probably the best time for Liverpool to face bottom of the league Manchester United as surely they will be in better shape later in the season. Liverpool themselves have had some teething issues with the new-look forward line and some rust and shakiness in the back line meant that what looked like an easy schedule has turned into a rough start. Injuries to Konate and Matip mean an opening for either Phillips or Gomez to start the next few games partnering VVD and my bet is on Gomez who is thought of as a longer-term future Liverpool starter.
Verdict: I would use a low-end waiver claim or 2-6 FAB to get him.
Joe Aribo
Position: Midfielder
Team: Southampton
Rostered: 20%
Next Fixture: Leicester (Away)
Prospects: It has been a strange start to the season for Southampton after they looked down and out against Leeds only to come back to draw partly thanks to a goal by newcomer Aribo. The starting lineup for the Saints is still a work in progress, but the former Rangers man looks to have enough upside to be worth rostering even if he is rotated out. 4.5 points in his first start in GW1 in the mauling by Spurs looks like a decent score considering the situation, so if you can definitely try to get him in.
Verdict: I would use low-end waiver claim or 5-7 FAB to get him.
Odsonne Edouard/JP Mateta
Position: Forward
Team: Palace
Ownership: 31/8%
Next Fixture: Aston Villa (Home)
Prospects: Maybe I will just leave the preamble of the FWD paragraph the same every week. In active leagues, there is very little chance you can stream a forward at this point in the season. If you must, though, whoever is starting on Saturday out of Edouard or Mateta looks like a good bet as Palace are going from strength to strength after great periods vs Arsenal they upped their game to snatch a draw from Anfield in GW2. This is a hail mary-ish play if you absolutely need to start a forward as either one of these players starts, they are almost guarantted no to last until 90′
Verdict: I would pick them up when lineups are announced.
