Gameweek 6 Start and Sit
Whether you’re an obsessed EPL fan like our Fantrax HQ team, or a casual player new to the world of Fantasy EPL, you know to start your attacking players against relegation-threatened sides. We’re not going to waste your time dealing with the obvious! The goal of this article is to delve into notable players across each Fantrax position and let you know if you should be starting or sitting those players.
For our Start and Sit candidates, we’re going to highlight one player in detail for each position, as well as suggesting a few alternatives. Let’s get to it!
Defender Starts
Lucas Digne vs NOR
It is time to stand up and be counted, Sir Lucas! Digne, a perennial feature in the highest echelons of fantasy defenders had the promise of stepping up to challenge those at the very top this season as with Sigurdsson and James out of the picture, he was supposed to be set piece king in the blue half of Everton. After 5 matches, he is merely a jester, not a king. Time for him to grab his opportunity and reclaim set pieces and dismantle Norwich to breathe new life into his Fantrax season.
Alternate Starts:
Pereira vs BUR
Masuaku vs LEE
Masina vs NEW
Defender Sits
Pinnock vs LIV
Ethan Pinnock might be a top 10 defender at the time of writing and he might even be close to that come the end of the season due to his immense ghost point potential, but it is not against Liverpool when you want to prove a point about him. Bench him, because this might be a pretty one-sided affair.
Alternate Sits:
Tomiyasu vs TOT
Rudiger vs MCI
Cash vs MUN
Midfielder Starts
Pablo Fornals vs LEE
Fornals has hit the ground running this season with 2 goals and 1 assist in the first 3 games. Since then, he has gone off the boil a little. He was a sub in the midweek EFL Cup victory against Manchester United, which bodes well for predicting a start for him for the weekend. Heavily injury-ravaged Leeds look out of sorts in almost all areas of the pitch, so the West Ham juggernaut could score a few past them and I expect Fornals to be involved.
Alternate Starts:
March vs CRY
Neves vs SOU
Soucek vs LEE
Midfielder Sits
Daniel Podence vs SOU
It will be very tempting to trot out Podence after his midweek performance and Wolves’ need to change things up firmly puts him in the likely starter category. That said, it is not in the creative department that Wolves need help in, so adding Podence might not help them get over the scoring hump. Podence is not a prolific ghost point scorer and Southampton has been growing from strength to strength in the last few weeks. I expect a low-scoring affair with Podence disappointing.
Alternate Sits:
Almiron vy WAT
Havertz vs MCI
Forward Starts
Nicolas Pépe vs TOT
Pépe has finally truly arrived. He has nailed down the spot in the Arsenal attack and has near-total dominance on set pieces. The North London Derby will be a huge test, but I expect him to pass with flying colors.
Alternate Starts:
Gray vs NOR
Joelinton vs WAT
Watkins Vs MUN
Forward Sits
Wilfred Zaha vs BHA
Before the start of the season, when you had a look at the schedule, everyone surely expected Zaha to score well in this fixture. Fast forward 6 weeks and Brighton finds themselves in the Champions League spaces whereas Palace is still struggling to score (Fantasy points and goals). Brighton’s solid start is as much about their defensive stability as their attack and I expect them to put up a fight on their way to a possible clean sheet. And we all know there aren’t many points to find when Zaha doesn’t get an attacking return.
Alternate Sits:
Werner vs MCI
Ings vs MUN
Torres vs CHE
