Gameweek 6 Waiver Wire Targets

Scott McTominay

Position: Midfielder

Team: Manchester United

Ownership: 18%

Next 5 Fixtures: CHE (H), ARS (H), eve (A), WBA (H), sou (A)

Prospects: McTominay managed a solid 9 points in the win vs. Newcastle. McTominay has two starts on the season with 13.5 and 9 points in those starts, showing he is a ghost points magnet when in the XI. The big question is whether or not those minutes will continue to come. The hope of most United fans myself included is he replaces Matic this season in the XI alongside Pogba and Bruno in the midfield. After his performance, I’m sure the same thought process may be going through Ole’s mind. Even against tougher teams, McTominay will still give you MID4 value with MID3 upside in friendly fixtures.

Verdict: I would use a mid-tier waiver claim or 3-5% of my FAAB on McTominay. The risk is there that he loses his spot in the XI, but he is worth a hold for at least a few weeks to see how the United XI starts to form.

Theo Walcott

Position: Midfielder

Team: Southampton

Ownership: 24%

Next 5 Fixtures: EVE (H), avl (A), NEW (H), wol (A), MUN (H)

Prospects: Walcott got his first start for his old club and finished with 19.5 points and an assist. Walcott was dangerous the entire match vs. a shaky Chelsea defense and managed five key passes. There is no reason Walcott can’t see consistent minutes ahead of a very out of form Stuart Armstrong. Walcott gives Southampton extra pace in wide areas and is a big goal threat in games. Southampton has a decent upcoming schedule, and if Walcott continues in the XI I would consider him a MID3 in those games.

Verdict: I would use a mid-tier waiver claim or 5-7% of my FAAB on Walcott. Even if he sits out the odd game he will provide much better value than most midfield streamers in deeper leagues.

Ademola Lookman

Position: Forward

Team: Fulham

Ownership: 19%

Next 5 Fixtures: CPL (H), WBA (H), whu (A), EVE (H), lei (A)

Prospects: Lookman scored 23.5 points in the draw vs. Sheffield United. The new signing was Fulham’s most dangerous player and could provide solid fantasy value. While I will still back Fulham to be relegated, Lookman can provide you with solid FWD3 value this season. Over the next month or so Fulham plays some leaky defenses and Lookman will have the upside of a FWD2. He seems to be great in terms of getting ghost points with dribbles and key passes. If Mitrovic starts to find his finishing boots Lookman could add some assists even to his game.

Verdict: I would use a top-tier waiver claim or 10% of my FAAB on Lookman if you are lacking in forward depth. The forward pool this season is very shallow, and Lookman could be the last useable asset in deeper leagues for a while.

Gameweek 6 Trade-In Target

Paul Pogba

Position: Midfielder

Team: Manchester United

Next 5 Fixtures: CHE (H), ARS (H), eve (A), WBA (H), sou (A)

Prospects: Can Pogba’s value get any lower? I highly doubt it, I still back him to be a top 30 player from this point on. In only 20 minutes from the bench, he managed 5.5 points, outscoring the likes of Mount, Redmond, Kante, Trossard, and Townsend all of who I would offer in any sort of deal to get back Pogba. Pogba will continue to have a very high floor of 5-7 points with an upside of 20+.

He has played very poorly this season, but Ole is still backing him to turn a corner after being rushed back with no preseason training. In four appearances, Pogba only has one key pass, and two shots on target. This will not be the norm for Pogba going forward. Manchester United already are starting to look better despite being tied with Newcastle the majority of last week’s game.

Verdict: I would look to offer a MID3 and a DEF2 in a package for Pogba who could have MID1-MID2 value this season. Offer a deal including any of the players listed above with Saiss, Keane, Semedo, or Zouma in a deal for Paul Pogba.
