A primetime matchup of the Arizona Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys caps off the Week 9 slate for both the NFL and DraftKings. This game should see no shortage of fireworks, even in comparison to the ones we got on Sunday. Jacoby Brissett will start the game, but Kyler Murray may have a role. That sounds like the “soft benching” term that has been all over social media the past few weeks. It appears that Murray’s time in Arizona is over, and that is the best outcome for both parties. That certainly increases the ceilings for both Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr. In this game against Dallas, expect a high-scoring output from both sides, which translates well to DraftKings Showdown slates. Below are four players that are strong plays tonight on this projected high-scoring slate.

DraftKings Showdown Plays for MNF

Captain Play: Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals (12.9k)

This call came down solely to salary between McBride and CeeDee Lamb. Rostering McBride over Lamb at captain costs almost $3,000 less. And that salary is extra valuable on a slate like this one. McBride, with Brissett at quarterback, offers a relatively close ceiling to Lamb when Pickens is on the field.

McBride has turned into the target monster we knew he could be. In the last two weeks, McBride has had 24 targets, the most at his position and fifth most overall in the league. The Cowboys are prone to getting beaten through the air, and I expect McBride to be a big part of that.

Other options: CeeDee Lamb, Jacoby Brissett, Javonte Williams, Zonovan Knight

Flex Play: CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys (10.8k)

Don’t worry, CeeDee Lamb isn’t far behind for this DraftKings Showdown slate. Lamb had to miss several weeks due to an ankle injury. However, in his last two weeks in the lineup, he has proven to have not missed a beat. Scoring 25 and 14.6 DraftKings points in his two games back. And avoiding Will Johnson will do wonders for him this week, as the star rookie will be seeing a ton of George Pickens tonight.

Johnson has only allowed a passer rating of 86.1 against him. Good for 29th in the league with corners with at least 150 snaps. Arizona has been average against slot receivers this year, giving up the 19th most yards to them through eight weeks. Lamb should have a massive game from the slot against a Cardinals secondary still figuring things out.

Flex Play: Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals (8.6K)

It is always beneficial to stack your pass-catching quarterback with his captain when playing DraftKings Showdown. And Jacoby Brissett sees his salary come in at a reasonable number. That is because Kyler Murray may have a role tonight in this game. Take that for what you will, as no one knows what it truly means, but it is related to injury for the former starter, according to the coaching staff.

Brissett has posted over 20 DraftKings points in his past two starts, and we all know the Cowboys’ struggles against offenses are well-documented. The team is giving up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Start Brissett in your lineups tonight with confidence, as he has an excellent salary on DraftKings and a matchup on the field.

Flex Play: Zay Jones, Arizona Cardinals (4K)

With Trevon Diggs out, Daron Bland has handled the slot and will line up across from Michael Wilson for the majority of the night. And that means great things for both Zay Jones and Marvin Harrison Jr. We are picking Jones, as he has a lower salary and has had more targets over the past two weeks, ten to Harrison’s eight. Dallas gives up the fourth-most points to opposing receivers, and staying away from Bland tonight will be key. Trikweze Bridges has played at the outside corner position these past two weeks and has given up 150 yards in coverage. All outside receivers are in play for the Arizona Cardinals tonight, and I would even go to Wilson as well. I want as much of this passing offense tonight as I can get.

Kickers and Defenses

For defenses, I want neither of them. I prefer the Cowboys due to their defensive ability to score, but would stay away from both of them on this DraftKings Showdown slate. And as for the kickers, with this game in a dome, I am playing both of them in my lineups tonight. We all know what Brandon Aubrey can do with his long field goals, but Chad Ryland has also been consistent with five games of ten or more DraftKings points this season. So, both kickers are viable options for tonight’s slate, as they both have the opportunity for long field goals in ideal conditions and the chance to rack up DraftKings points.

Final Thoughts

This game is going to be a high-scoring one tonight for this DraftKings Showdown slate. Neither defense has had much to build on this year. We just watched Dallas get 44 points put on them by the Broncos. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are coming into this one, allowing 20-plus points in their last four games. Every high-end offensive player should be in your player pool tonight if you play multiple lineups. I anticipate this matchup to be high variance, and I’m ruling no one out. Cardinals will be the ones to lean on if you want to be different, while the Cowboys will likely come in with the higher ownership.
