EPL fixtures should play a major factor in your decision-making, in both short and long term roster planning.
Let’s look back at our September suggestions. Liverpool did lose to Nottingham Forest, but otherwise took two wins, and are top of the table. Aston Villa won two and surprisingly drew their final game of the month to Ipswich. Wolves lost all three and are last in the league, while Brentford grabbed only a single point over their three games.
The EPL fixtures matter. It sounds simple.
Now let’s look at the best and worst matchups in October for EPL teams.
For each team, you’ll see the game week, date, their opponent, whether each fixture is home or away, and the placement of their opponent in the league table at the time of writing.
Fantasy EPL Draft – October EPL Fixtures
Here are the teams with the best set of EPL fixtures for September. These players have added value based on who they are playing.
Manchester City
Game week # | Date | Home/Away + Opponent | Opponent Place in the League |
GW 7 | 10/05/2024 | (H) Fulham | 6th |
GW 8 | 10/20/2024 | (A) Wolverhampton Wanderers | 20th |
GW 9 | 10/26/2024 | (H) Southampton | 19th |
The title race is on and as expected Manchester City are right in the mix even after back to back draws versus Arsenal and Newcastle. The news of Rodri being out for the season may give Arsenal and Liverpool some hope to challenge. Manchester City have a great fixture list for October to quiet some of that doubt for now. They start with Fulham who have had a quality start to the season, but Manchester City at the Etihad are tough to beat. City then take on Wolverhampton, who are last in the league without a win. Southampton are just above Wolves in 19th. Both are conceding lots and lots of goals. This is a month to have your Man City assets ready. I think Phil Foden owners will start to remember why they drafted him in the first round.
Brentford
Game week # | Date | Home/Away + Opponent | Opponent Place in the League |
GW 7 | 10/05/2024 | (H) Wolverhampton Wanderers | 20th |
GW 8 | 10/19/2024 | (A) Manchester United | 13th |
GW 9 | 10/26/2024 | (H) Ipswich Town | 15nd |
Brentford had a tough September with just 1 point from three matches. Fortunately, this month should see them back to some positive results. They have home fixtures versus bottom of the table Wolverhampton. They aslo host Ipswich who have yet to win this season. Sandwiched between those two matches is an away trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. United have struggled to say the least and Thomas Frank’s side are always up for it against the bigger clubs. Bryan Mbeumo has been a top-tier forward this year both on the field and for fantasy owners and this month could see his value rise with some fantastic fixtures. Keep an eye out on MIkkel Damsgaard and Fabio Carvahlo who have slotted in and been productive fantasy wise in the injury absence of Yoane Wissa and Christian Norrgaard.
These teams have tough EPL fixtures coming up, so be cautious when looking at players here.
Southampton
Game week # | Date | Home/Away + Opponent | Opponent Place in the League |
GW 7 | 10/05/2024 | (A) Arsenal | 5th |
GW 8 | 10/19/2024 | (H) Leicester City | 7th |
GW 9 | 10/26/2024 | Manchester City | 2nd |
Southampton are one of five clubs still chasing their first win in the Premier League and are sitting on a single point. They are a clear worry for relegation, and October could be another challenging month for The Saints. Their fixtures include tough matches against Arsenal and Manchester City, who will both be expected to not only win but win by a lot. There’s a glimmer of hope with a home game against Leicester City. This could be a crucial match for Southampton, as Leicester are another team that might find themselves in a relegation battle come the end of the season. A positive result in this fixture could be vital for The Saints’ confidence and league position. From a fantasy perspective, Southampton assets are risky propositions this month. Tyler Dibling and Yikinari Sugawara have shown some promise, but their potential for points is likely limited to the home match against Leicester City.
Bournemouth
Game week # | Date | Home/Away + Opponent | Opponent Place in the League |
GW 7 | 10/05/2024 | (A) Leicester City | 1st |
GW 8 | 10/19/2024 | (H) Arsenal | 10th |
GW 9 | 10/26/2024 | (A) Aston Villa | 13th |
Bournemouth face a challenging October with a mix of fixtures that could prove difficult for Andoni Iraola’s side. They start the month with an away trip to Leicester City, who have shown signs of improvement after a slow start to the season. While this might be their best chance for points this month, playing away from home always adds an extra layer of difficulty. The Cherries then host third-place Arsenal who will be looking to replicate results from last season after beating Bournemouth 3-0 and 4-0. They round out the month against a strong Aston Villa side who have started the season where they left off last year.. Bournemouth’s key fantasy assets Marcus Tavernier and Antoine Semeneyo are must-starts versus Leicester City but do not be surprised by some lower production in their games versus Arsenal and Aston Villa.
Keep your eyes on the future, as these matchups can make a big difference in player value. Go with the stats and with your gut.
Good luck.
