When you find yourself in a fantasy league where the usual suspects just aren’t found on the waiver wire – what do you do? Well, here’s a list of players just for you – seven players trending up on the fantasy rankings as well as their teams’ depth charts. Some might be permanent, some only injury replacements but, hey, nothing is truly permanent.
Week 6 Fantasy Basketball Deep Waiver Wire Adds
Torrey Craig, SF/PF – Phoenix Suns (24% rostered)
With Cameron Johnson possibly out until January, there is no reason not to roster his replacement in the Suns’ starting line-up – Torrey Craig. While Craig’s numbers don’t pop off the box score, he keeps putting up solid all-around fantasy numbers. In the last 5 games, Craig averaged 12.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2 threes, 1 steal, and 1 block with good percentages. Torrey Craig is a must-roster in all but the shallowest of leagues.
John Konchar, SG – Memphis Grizzlies (21% rostered)
Desmond Bane is expected to miss about a month of basketball action with a toe sprain. Enter John Konchar. In the 4 games since Bane’s injury, Konchar ranks in the top 50 in 8 and 9-cat leagues. Averaging 13 points, 2 threes, 9 rebounds, and 1 steal with good percentages, Konchar is a must-roster in most leagues until Desmond Bane returns.
Thaddeus Young, PF/C – Toronto Raptors (13% rostered)
In his 16th NBA season, Young is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence during the Raptors’ mini-injury crisis – Scottie Barnes, Chris Boucher, Pascal Siakam, and Precious Achiuwa are all missing time from the Raptors’ frontcourt. In the last four games, Young has averaged 12.8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2.2 steals with good percentages in 30 minutes. There is no reason to expect that to change until the Raptors’ roster is back to full strength, which may be a while.
Drew Eubanks, C – Portland Trail Blazers (5% rostered)
While Drew Eubanks doesn’t really have a role in the Blazers’ offense, he is a high-energy player who gets his stats from put-backs, rebounds, blocks and steals. He has contributed a top 120 fantasy 9-cat per-game stat line in the last two weeks. As a bonus, Eubanks is the backup to the very injury-prone Jusuf Nurkic. If Nurkic goes down, expect Eubanks’ minutes and role to increase.
Corey Kispert, SG/SF – Washington Wizards (4% rostered)
Kispert has been good for 2.6 threes per game in the last 5. Some of the opportunity has come from teammates’ injuries and foul trouble, however, his performance has been good and could be an indication of an extended role going forward. For now, Monte Morris is out with a sore ankle and Kispert should be rostered until proven otherwise.
Malachi Flynn, PG – Toronto Raptors (1% rostered)
With Dalano Banton and Gary Trent out injured, Malachi Flynn has filled the role of the main scorer off the bench for the Raptors. In his last four, Flynn has averaged 12.2 points and 2.2 threes with good percentages in 19.5 minutes. Flynn might still have a role in the rotation after the injuries considering the trade rumours surrounding Gary Trent.
Lindy Waters, SG – Oklahoma City Thunder (0% rostered)
Not a name you might have heard of – Lindy Waters has been called up to the Thunder from his stint with the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League. In the first two games, he averaged 8.5 points, 4 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 2.5 threes in 22 minutes. Not a world-beater by any chance but those are solid end-of-roster numbers in a deeper league. If he can keep the minutes, he can be a solid 3-and-D guy both on the Thunder and on our fantasy teams.
