Here we are on the opening day of the NBA 2025-26 season. The summer is officially over. With a blank slate on the box score, hope springs eternal across the 30 NBA teams. Now, a lot of hope is about to be shattered in both real-life basketball and fantasy basketball. Isn’t it exciting? Most Favorable Schedules
Los Angeles Clippers – @UTA PHX POR
The veteran Los Angeles Clippers will start the season with a clean bill of health. Wowza-yowza! Furthermore, they’re starting the season with games against the Jazz, Suns, and Blazers, who are all expected to be very much below-average teams. I’d look towards Brook Lopez and Bogdan Bogdanovic to make a big impact off the waiver wire.
Sacramento Kings – @PHX UTA LAL
The Kings will have to start the season with Domantas Sabonis and Keegan Murray, who are both out with injuries. DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, Dennis Schröder, and Russell Westbrook may or may not be available for the season opener against the Suns on Wednesday. What all that means is there are opportunities to be seized, avenues to be explored, free agents to be picked up. With the big man situation as it is, look towards Drew Eubanks, Dario Saric, or even Maxime Raynaud to get extended runs.
Charlotte Hornets – BKN @PHI @WAS
It’s a two-horse race for the starting center spot in Charlotte. The two horses are Ryan Kalkbrenner and Moussa Diabate. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter (for fantasy) which horse gets the starting spot as both are likley to split the playing time anyway. With a complete lack of any other bigs in the rotation, these two are in a good place to clean up at least some rebounds and blocks. Will it be enough to be a rosterable fantasy player? It’s entirely possible.
San Antonio Spurs – @DAL @NOP BKN
Victor Wembanyama is locked in as a starter for the Spurs but other than that it’s all open for anyone. Any of their young athletic players could claim a bigger role on the team by raising their game. Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Dylan Harper, Keldon Johnson, and Julian Champagnie are all welcome to become star players. Or they could be stepping on each other’s toes.
Milwaukee Bucks – WAS @TOR @CLE
The Bucks are becoming more and more a one-man team. If they’re not there already. Put it this way – their third and fourth most rostered players are Kevin Porter Jr. and Bobby Portis. But someone will score the points even for bad teams. The names that pop out among less rostered players are Cole Anthony and AJ Green. The Bucks have plenty of room for someone, anyone, to stand out in the smallest three positions on the court.
