We’re entering Week 7 of the 2024-25 NBA Fantasy Basketball season and I don’t need to tell you about the symbolic meaning of the number 7. In fact, I can’t, since it would be outside the scale and scope of this article. The meaning of Week 7 inside the context of Fantasy Basketball waiver wire is that there are plenty of good players available in most leagues. And if there aren’t right now, just wait and an injury or two will create new opportunities. Below, you’ll find a few names to get you started for the week.
Week 7 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Adds
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SG/SF – Orlando Magic (52% rostered)
As the hired gun to solve the Magic shooting woes, Caldwell-Pope started the season very poorly – he scored in double figures in only 3 of the first 18 games of the season. Since then, however, he’s scored 24, 19, and 16 points in his last three games. A bit of a hot run, sure, but Caldwell-Pope is over 40% from three over the last five seasons so it wouldn’t be completely wild to expect it to continue going forward.
Payton Pritchard, PG/SG – Boston Celtics (77% rostered)
Payton Pritchard may be the sixth man for the Celtics but he is also the third-best Celtic in fantasy so far this year – behind Jayson Tatum and Derrick White. With the volume of the Celtics offense, there are enough shots for the sixth man to get his nearly every game. As a bonus, White and Jaylen Brown may be missing games, which would increase Pritchard’s role significantly. But even with a fully healthy roster, Pritchard should be rostered in most leagues.
Vasilije Micic, C – Charlotte Hornets (22% rostered)
With LaMelo Ball out for at least two weeks with a lower leg injury, it’s time to dust off Vasilije Micic. That is exactly what the Hornets did and so should you – Micic went from not playing at all to 30+ minutes per game after the Ball injury. Ball is scheduled to be re-evaluated in two weeks, which is the minimum he can be on the sidelines. Knowing Ball’s injury history, though, this may drag on. Last season Micic averaged 11 points and 6 assists in games where LaMelo Ball didn’t play. Also, Micic was the EuroLeague MVP in 2021, which has to be mentioned every time Micic comes up.
Malcolm Brogdon, PG – Washington Wizards (66% rostered)
Brogdon missed the start of the season and may have been out of sight and out of mind for fantasy players. However, if he is still available on the waiver wire, he must be picked up as one of the few competent players on the woeful Wizards. And if there’s something that really excites fantasy players, it’s competency. Joking aside, Brogdon should be seeing high minutes until his inevitable trade from the Wizards. An expected average stat line going forward would be something like 15 points, 5 assists, and 2 threes.
Yves Missi, C – New Orleans Pelicans (65% rostered)
The 21st pick of this year’s draft, Yves Missi, has been a rare bright spot for the injury-ridden Pelicans. If you’re looking for a blocks and rebounds kind of a center, Missi just might be your man.
