Let’s keep things going. It’s a long NBA season, and reinforcements are always going to be needed. The cause for those reinforcements could be varied, but it should all lead to the same place: a fantasy basketball championship. Whether you are looking for an injury replacement, to improve on an underperforming spot, or a category-specific boost, you’re in the right place. Let’s take a look at some options on the fantasy basketball waiver wire for you to take a look at in the upcoming week.
Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire
Khris Middleton, F, Washington Wizards
We do need to qualify things that Khris Middleton didn’t play on Saturday. While it doesn’t appear to be serious, the veteran is dealing with a knee issue. In fact, at least at this point, I’d think of it more as a maintenance day than anything.
While it appears that we do have to factor some maintenance days into Middleton’s plan, the veteran has plenty of opportunity in Washington. The Wizards are clearly rebuilding, and they’re also dealing with injuries at the moment. On the season, Middleton is averaging 10.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. That well-rounded production, albeit in slightly less quantity, is nothing new for Middleton.
There’s the possibility Middleton gets moved to a contender at some point in the season, but we have to focus on the present. And in his last four games, Middleton is averaging 13.3 points and five rebounds per game. He’s also stepping up as a distributor and Middleton has 6.5 assists per game.
Donte DiVincenzo, G, Minnesota Timberwolves
Sometimes it all comes down to a particular category. In the case of Donte DiVincenzo, the three-pointers draw you, but the overall body of work is pretty solid as well.
A portion of the success is directly tied to the fact that DiVincenzo is playing a career-high 31 minutes per game. However, he’s also making good use of them. DiVincenzo is averaging 13.7 points, four rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game with 3.1 three-pointers. That latter is the second highest of his career.
While the guard struggled in Saturday’s game, he had just come off a strong, six-game stretch. DiVincenzo averaged 15.2 points per game with around four rebounds and assists.
Over the aforementioned stretch, DiVincenzo made four three-pointers per game. While he might not keep it up and the high level, it does point to his role in the offense and skill set.
Neemias Queta, C, Boston Celtics
It might seem that way, but Neemias Queta didn’t come completely out of nowhere. In his third year with the Boston Celtics, Queta saw his minutes increase from 14 to 24 per game. That has led to 10.1 points, eight rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.
As the season progresses, all Queta has done is earn more minutes. He’s been quite efficient in the playing time he’s received, and it’s not like Boston is flush with depth or better options.
Queta is shooting an elite 66.2% from the field, which, unfortunately, only in part, makes up for his 61.5% free-throw shooting. He is a center, so it’s not entirely surprising. Last year, though, Queta shot 75.4% from the line, so it’s possible he can turn things around. While it remains to be seen when that extended playing time is coming, this is the time to target Queta on the waiver wire.
