Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: The House Of Payne

Things aren’t going to get easier. In fact, the complete opposite is in play. On a daily basis, we are battling scores of players who are injured, resting, or some other variation of the sort. Managing a successful fantasy basketball roster down the stretch of the NBA season isn’t easy. That doesn’t mean we are giving up, though. Let’s jump into some options on the fantasy basketball waiver wire to help you improve your team this week.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire

Cameron Payne, Philadelphia 76ers

Someone has to play in the backcourt for the Philadelphia 76ers. For that matter, someone needs to score in Philadelphia. Right now, the options are beginning to dwindle on both accounts.

Joel Embiid and Paul George are already sidelined, and now Kelly Oubre and Tyrese Maxey are joining them. Oubre is likely going to be out for two weeks, while Maxey will be out for about three weeks. That gives Cameron Payne plenty of time to add value to your fantasy team.

In this situation, it doesn’t matter whether or not Payne is starting or coming off the bench. Regardless, the opportunity is there.

While Payne only managed six points in his most recent game, it did come in 23 minutes of action. Prior to that, Payne averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in his three most recent games. That included a career of 32 points as Payne’s role continues to increase.

For the most part, Payne has been a supporting piece throughout his career. However, when given the chance, he can capitalize. Payne has always been a strong free-throw shooter, and we know that he’s going to be busy from behind the three-point line as well.

Danny Wolf, F, Brooklyn Nets

We know that the Brooklyn Nets are tanking. Now with the season getting closer to its conclusion, players are beginning to drop like flies. As more players are shut down for the season, we’ll see younger players step up. The Nets have plenty of those, but the one I’m focusing on here is Danny Wolf.

Drafted towards the back end of the first round, 27th overall, Wolf had an inconsistent start to the season and his career. The forward has taken advantage of the increased playing time, and the result was his first career double-double on Saturday. Wolf led the Nets with 15 points as he also grabbed 10 rebounds in 26 minutes.

While Wolf is likely heading back to the bench, at least for his next game, that’s not to say he won’t return to the starting lineup in the near future. Regardless, the playing time will be there for Wolf.

in his last 10 games, Wolf has reached double figures in seven of them. Even including one game in which Wolf was scoreless in 14 minutes, he’s averaging 12.2 points and 6.2 rebounds over that stretch. He’s adding 1.4 three-pointers per game along with 2.7 assists while shooting 83.7 from the free-throw line. Let’s see what he can do as he closes out the season.

Isaiah Collier, Utah Jazz

We know that the Utah Jazz are very clearly looking towards next year. That doesn’t mean we are without opportunity from a fantasy perspective, though. On Friday, Isaiah Collier got the start, and once again, he turned in a productive performance.

Collier finished with 17 points and nine assists as he continued what’s been a strong season. In fact, the guard was just one assist shy of finishing with his 11th double-double of the season. Since the All-Star break, Collier has been performing at a high level. That has come in the form of 17.1 points and 6.4 assists per game. He’s also added 1.6 steals per game, and he should be rostered across the board.
