Fantasy EPL Gameweek 27: Waiver Wire and Trade Target

Every Fantrax manager knows that Waiver Wire and Trade acquisitions can make or break your Fantasy EPL season.  This weekly article is here to help managers pick up the best Premier League players possible from the waiver wire, as well as suggest players to potentially target for a trade with a fellow manager!

Here we outline Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Targets that have 30% ownership or below on Fantrax.  These players will also have a favorable run of fixtures upcoming, so they could perform very well over the upcoming period!  Trade Targets will be players who look set to do well over the upcoming period, but their ownership statistics suggest they are probably taken in most draft leagues!

Essential reading before the Tuesday waiver requests process!

Gameweek 27 Waiver Wire Targets

Davinson Sanchez

Position: Defender

Team: Tottenham

Ownership: 29%

Average Points per Match: 6.92

Next 5 Fixtures: che (A), WOL (H), bur (A), MUN (H), WHU (H)

Prospects: Sanchez has back to back double-digit scores for the first time this season. Spurs gave up 2 poor goals to Aston Villa, and do have some tough games coming up. During this run, Sanchez could still be considered a DEF3. Mourinho will try to keep things tight at the back in these must-win games, making Spurs defenders still useable. Sanchez is also a threat from set plays and will be playing some leaky defenses over the next 5 games. I would use a low-end waiver wire claim on the Spurs center back ahead of Gameweek 27 due to their tough run.

Tom Cleverley

Position: Midfielder

Team: Watford

Ownership: 5%

Average Points per Match: 7.9

Next 5 Fixtures: mun (A), LIV (H), cpl (A), LEI (H), bur (A)

Prospects: Cleverley will be back in the Watford squad within the next 2 gameweeks and should be picked up with a look to the last 10 weeks of the season. Cleverley will probably regain his place in the XI in the #10 role within the next 4 gameweeks. When in the squad Cleverley has tremendous upside, and shares set-piece duty. Before his injury back in October Cleverley was a solid MID4 with MID3 upside. There is every chance he has a similar value when in the XI. I would use a mid-tier waiver wire claim on Cleverley with the midfield pool becoming super shallow. Ahead of Gameweek 27, Cleverley is a high upside add to your squad.

Moussa Djenepo

Position: Midfielder

Team: Southampton

Ownership: 10%

Average Points per Match: 6.40

Next 5 Fixtures: AVL (H), whu (A), NEW (H), nor (A), ARS (H)

Prospects: Djenepo is set for a run in the XI with Redmond rumored to be ruled out for at least a month. Over the next 5 matches, the Saints play some of the EPL’s leakiest defenses. This is the perfect time for Djenepo to hit form and find his place in the XI. Boufal also sustained an injury giving Djenepo an even clearer path to the XI. The Saints midfielder loves to dribble and can strike from distance. I would consider Djenepo a MID3 with MID2 upside making him a must-add over the next few weeks. As the season comes to a close Djenepo is the kind of player that could help you win the next few weeks.

Gameweek 27 Trade In Target

Allan Saint-Maximin

Position: Forward

Team: Newcastle

Average Points per Match: 10.1

Next 5 Fixtures: cpl (A), BUR (H), sou (A), SHU (H), AVL (H)

Prospects: Saint-Maximin has recorded 5 double-digit games in a row with only 2 attacking returns in that span. He fills up the stat sheet nicely with his dribbles and key passes making him great for ghost points. He can be considered a high-end FWD2 with FWD1 upside. I would look to bring in ASM ahead of Newcastle’s very easy run. I would look to offer a MID3 + FWD3/DEF2 so some combination including Trossard, Kante, Fraser, Lacazette, Pukki, Mee, Maguire. Saint-Maximin should be a top trade target ahead of Gameweek 27.
