Fantasy Football 2024: Week 16 RB Rankings

As we roll into my Week 16 RB rankings, let’s talk about playoffs. Either you are just starting this week or you are moving onto the semi-finals. Now we did have some injuries last week including David Montgomery and Alvin Kamara. Kamara could be ready for next week but Montgomery will be out for the rest of the year. But we also have some questions about Saquaon Barkley. He was banged up last week but no reports came out that he was seriously injured, but Kenneth Gainwell gained some more reps on the field this week. Barkley only scored 8.4 fantasy points this week. It is up in the air whether Barkley could be a safe start this week.

We’ll get into it this week.

RB Notes

  • Let’s start with James Conner as my RB5. Conner has been one of the best fantasy RBs this season and is ranked as the RB10 on the season. He has scored over 20 fantasy points in back-to-back games including dropping 28.3 fantasy points last week. This week Conner has a perfect matchup against the Panthers this week who are giving up 26.5 fantasy points per game to RBs. This past week, the Panthers gave up 149 rushing yards to Rico Dowdle. Expect Conner to continue his dominance this week.
  • Next, I have Bucky Irving against the Dallas Cowboys. Irving showed that he is the best RB on the team. Irving and Rachaad White both had 15 rushing attempts, but it was Irving who had 117 rushing yards over White’s 64 yards. Irving also dropped 117 rushing yards against the fifth-ranked rushing defense in the league, the Chargers. This week Irving has the sixth-worst fantasy rushing defense in the league, giving up 22.1 fantasy points to RBs this year.
  • Next, is Jonathan Taylor as my RB19 against the Titans. Taylor started the season off hot, but as of recently, he is benchable. Since Week 8 he has only scored over double-digits fantasy points just three times. With a low being 13.2 and a high of 18.2. He has only scored over 20 fantasy points just once this season. Taylor is limited when it comes to Anthony Richardson being the starting quarterback. Taylor hasn’t had a rushing touchdown since Week 8, while Richardson has four rushing touchdowns since Week 8. It is clear that Richardson hurts, Taylors production. And while Richardson is starting, it is best to bench Taylor.
  • Lastly, James Cook is my RB10 this week and he could be a league winner this week. He has the Patriots who are giving up 22 fantasy points per game to RBs this week. Last week they just gave up two touchdowns and 110 rushing yards to Conner. This past week Cook dropped 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Bills. I expect Cook to have another huge game against the Patriots this week.
