Week 15 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
Out of all of the games this week, there is only one QB that I would consider a sleeper or streamer, who is worthy of a fantasy start in the fantasy playoffs. That player is Bryce Young. He’s got an elite matchup vs. the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas ranks 30th out of 32 teams in a rush defense according to PFF. That’s great for Young, as it means he won’t be facing constant blitzes or eight-man boxes. Chubba Hubbard is going to be able to get it going on the ground and leave Young to 3rd and manageable down-and-distances.
Further, the Cowboys ranked 26th out of 32, according to PFF, in pass coverage. That means Theilen and Legette will have plus matchups for the first time in several weeks going up against the Cowboys. In the past three weeks, since Young regained his starting position, Young has thrown for 3 TDs and 1 interception, 752 passing yards, and 66 rushing yards, with a score. He’s a completely different QB than who he was before he got benched. Not to say the benching helped him, but it definitely didn’t hurt.
Lastly, Dallas has a top-five pass rush in the league, so it is imperative that they don’t wreck the game by getting to the QB. Fortunately for Carolina, while they don’t do a lot of things well, they actually have the 12th-ranked pass protection offense in the entire league. Matchup-wise, everything is lining up for Carolina to actually have a solid chance to win this matchup, and with Carolina’s poor defense, it means that the onus will be on Bryce Young to score points and win the game.
I project Young to have 250 yards passing, 2 TDs, and 25 yards rushing. Will he win you your fantasy matchups single-handedly? No. However, if you’re in a pinch and you don’t have a QB to start, for whatever reason, I think you’re best served to start Bryce Young to get the job done.
