As we get into my Week 5 starts and sits of the week for quarterbacks and RB, we also hit our first bye weeks. That means no Kenneth Walker III, Chuba Hubbard, or Patrick Mahomes II. So if you are 0-4 going into the week, then you are going to need to pay attention to these starts and sits.

Quarterback Starts
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (at Arizona Cardinals)
The Cardinals have been surprising this year, but at the same time they have given up more than 30 points every game this season. They are also giving up 21.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. This is a great matchup for Jared Goff, who is averaging 21.5 fantasy points per game. He is consistent, and this will be a huge scoring game for him.
Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals (vs. Detroit Lions)
On the other side of the ball, Jacoby Brissett has an amazing matchup this week. The Lions secondary is one of the worst in the league. They are currently giving up the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks and the second most to wide receivers. Brissett has had his ups and downs this season, but this week he is a top-tier streamer and should be starting in your lineup.
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers (at Seattle Seahawks)
This matchup is not the best, but that doesn’t matter since Brock Purdy is looking like an MVP candidate. Purdy has also played some top defenses this year against the Rams and Broncos, and in each game he scored more than 20 fantasy points. Seattle, on the other hand, has not played a top-tier team, so their defensive stats are a bit juiced. Don’t get me wrong, the Seahawks have a great defense, but Purdy is looking special, and this could be a high-scoring game.

Quarterback Sits
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (vs. Denver Broncos)
The good thing about this game is Justin Herbert will be at home, but he is still a must-sit this week. Herbert has yet to score more than 15 fantasy points this season, and this week does not look any better for him. The Broncos have shut down Matthew Stafford and Trevor Lawrence this year. I would not put my money on Herbert and his receivers this week.
Drake Maye, New England Patriots (vs. Las Vegas Raiders)
Drake Maye finally had his coming-out game last week, but this Raiders defense is no joke. The Raiders’ secondary has four interceptions this year, and their opponents’ QBR is 85.8. Maye has been having trouble this year besides last week. I wouldn’t get on the Maye train after one good game. Let’s not forget he has seven interceptions to four touchdowns on the season.
RB Starts
Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders (at New England Patriots)
On the other side, Ashton Jeanty has been middle of the road besides his Week 1 performance. However, this is going to be his breakout week. The Patriots are giving up an average of 18.1 fantasy points per game to RBs. They did take out the Bills last week, but James Cook still put up 75 yards and one touchdown. He should have had two if Josh Allen didn’t sneak in one of his own. Jeanty is still the workhorse in the offense, and the Raiders will need him this week to steal a road game.
Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals (at Miami Dolphins)
This is the game where Chase Brown goes for over 25 fantasy points. Brown is getting 72% of the snap share compared to 34% by Samaje Perine. Brown got a slow start to the year last year and ended up being the RB8 on the season. This will be the game where he has his breakout game of the season. The Dolphins are also giving up the third most fantasy points per game in 27.1 to RBs.
Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. Philadelphia Eagles)
Bhayshul Tuten is another one who is having a slow start to the season, but he has a golden matchup against a weak Eagles run defense. The Eagles are giving up just over 20 fantasy points per game to RBs and just last week gave up 31.7 fantasy points to Kyren Williams. This will be a coming-out game for Tuten as he is averaging 15 carries a game compared to Chris Rodriguez Jr.’s 6.5 carries a game.
RB Sits
Braelon Allen, New York Jets (vs. Cleveland Browns)
Braelon Allen is a wild card type of player that can get off at any point. But this is not the week to start him. The Cleveland Browns have been better than expected this year and are only giving up 14.6 fantasy points per game to RBs. The Jets on the other hand have lost their momentum that they had in the beginning of the year. Allen did have 94% of the snap share last week but only put up 8.7 fantasy points.
Cam Skattebo, New York Giants (at Washington Commanders)
Cam Skattebo is a risky start with Jackson Dart being out for the season. I wanted to see how he would do with Jameis Winston, but since then Skattebo has only put up 13 fantasy points and 7.6 in Winston’s two starts. On the bright side, Skattebo is averaging 17 carries a game, but is only averaging 3.5 yards per carry. Even though this is a great matchup for him, I do not expect him to do any different this week.
