You absolutely don’t want to add a week-long streamer who only plays for two days, so while considering the best options to get you the most points or the biggest advantage, matchups, amount of games, and recent production all matter at this time of the season. Let’s get into three of the top streamer options at forward for Week 22.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 22
Mackie Samoskevich, Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers have seen a nice breakout this season from Mackie Samoskevich at the perfect time. With Matthew Tkachuk out for the regular season, the young forward has stepped up and not only taken a spot on the second line, but the top power play as well where he has been putting up points. To grab someone off of waivers on one of the best teams with a strong power play like the Panthers have is a gift, and you should capitalize on it.
In Samoskevich’s last eight games, he has four goals and seven points. Five of those points have come on the man advantage and he is hitting just as much as he’s shooting, which is a good amount. Expect him to get in front of some shots as well, so this low rostered forward can pretty much do it all and there’s no signs of slowing down. The Panthers play the Columbus Blue Jackets, then the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins on a back-to-back on the weekend.
Mason McTavish, Anaheim Ducks
The Anaheim Ducks are finally starting to see a big jump in performance from Mason McTavish as he’s turning into a solid top-6 center. The Ducks aren’t going to make the playoffs, but have made some nice strides. That being said, they are still battling every night and McTavish has been putting up a nice amount of goals and points. He sits at 18 goals and 40 points in 61 games this season.
While that doesn’t seem like a whole lot, McTavish has been especially good in the second half of the season, scoring five goals and recording 13 points in his last 12 games. The top three lines of the Ducks are worked around a bit, but McTavish has found chemistry with cutter Gauthier and he is on the top power play as well. Anaheim faces off against the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, and Carolina Hurricanes this week.
Will Cuylle, New York Rangers
With all of the changes this season and more to come in the summer, the New York Rangers have seemingly permanently moved Will Cuylle to the top line to play with Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck. This has worked great for the Rangers as the young, physical forward has steadily been putting up points while not changing his style of play from hitting everything he sees.
Cuylle has a goal and three points on his three-game point streak and has five goals and 10 points in his last 14 games. During that span, he has managed 49 hits, a good amount of shots, and some penalty minutes, and he will add some blocked shots to the mix every so often. For banger leagues, he is a great choice. The Rangers match up against the Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Vancouver Canucks this week.
