CFF G6: The Week 5 Names Headed for a Bump

By Tuesday morning, some of these names will look very different on your waiver wire. If you’re searching for The Week 5 Names Headed for a Bump, this list spotlights those players. Roster percentages don’t move on hype. They move on production. Every player on this list has been quietly stacking it. For example, there is a quarterback with back-to-back 33-point games. There is a running back with two straight 20-point weeks. Also, a receiver has scored in every game. A tight end who keeps eating targets. Your league mates will notice eventually. The goal is to get there first. Therefore, here are the four G6 names I think should be added this week.

There’s no such thing as too much football! 2026 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!

The Week 5 Names Headed for a Bump

Quarterback

Dru DeShields – Kent State

Fantrax Rostership: 3%
Total Fantasy Points: 71.7
Fantasy Points Per Game: 17.9

In two games against FCS or G6 competition, Dru DeShields has dropped 33.32 and 33.16 points. A big part of that production has come on the ground. He rushed for 74 and 76 yards in those games. Rushing yardage is one of the most dependable sources of fantasy points at the position. Furthermore, if you are looking for the week 5 names headed for a bump at quarterback, DeShields is a must-watch. Moreover, it gives DeShields a floor most quarterbacks in this tier don’t have.

Kent State has a date with Ohio on Saturday, and the matchup is a great one. Ohio’s defense ranks near the bottom of all FBS in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. A dual-threat passer against a defense that struggles to contain quarterbacks is exactly the kind of setup that turns a good week into a great one. Another big game will get him noticed. Consequently, get ahead of it. Look for Kent State to ride the arm and legs of DeShields in Week 5.

Running Back

Samuel Brown – Temple

Fantrax Rostership: 28%
Total Fantasy Points: 59
Fantasy Points Per Game: 29.5

Sam Brown has put up back-to-back 20-point performances. He gave you 34.6 points in Week 3 against Toledo. Then he followed it with 24.4 points against Army in Week 4. When thinking about fantasy players poised for a bump in Week 5, his name is certainly headed up this list. Two strong weeks in a row is usually where the waiver wire starts to catch on.

Week 5 does bring a stiffer challenge, as the Owls take on the USF Bulls. Still, Temple’s offense runs through Sam Brown, and that matters more than the matchup on paper. Even if he’s slowed on the ground, he has proven he can deliver in the passing game. Furthermore, he has caught four passes in those two games for 105 yards and two touchdowns. That receiving upside gives him a higher floor than most backs in this range. It’s a big reason I expect his rostership to keep climbing.

Wide Receiver

Makai Jackson – Liberty

Fantrax Rostership: 5%
Total Fantasy Points: 81.9
Fantasy Points Per Game: 20.5

There are plenty of good options on the waiver wire this week, but a lot of them are on bye in Week 5. If you want names to stash for Week 6 and beyond, check out my Waiver Wire Honey with the G5 Hive.

As for Makai Jackson, he has five touchdowns on the season. In every game this season he has: scored at least once, seen at least five targets, and recorded at least 69 yards. Also, he leads the Flames in target share. That has produced fantasy outputs of 16.3, 14.9, 18.8, and 31.9. So, from this perspective, Makai may be among the week 5 names headed for a bump in wide receiver rankings. There isn’t a dud in that game log.

Liberty has Delaware in Week 5, and I do have one pause. Delaware is more vulnerable to the slot, allowing five times as many fantasy points to the slot as it does to the outside. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Darius Copeland benefit a little more. Nonetheless, a receiver who has found the end zone every week and carries that kind of target share isn’t one to sleep on. Therefore, Makai Jackson needs to be on your radar heading into Week 5.

Tight End

Eli Finley – Louisiana Tech

Fantrax Rostership: 25%
Total Fantasy Points: 37.2
Fantasy Points Per Game: 12.4

Eli Finley is commanding 25.3% of Louisiana Tech’s targets, which ranks third in the G6. In Week 3 against Baylor, he posted eight receptions on 13 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown. Target share like that is sticky. So, among the week 5 names, Finley should be headed for a bump as a tight end who could really make a difference. It is the kind of usage that gets a tight end noticed in a position that’s bleak in college fantasy.

Here’s what I love most about Finley. It doesn’t matter who’s throwing him the ball. Whether Blake Baker is back in Week 5 from his broken hand or Trey Kukuk continues to start, Eli is averaging seven targets and 43 yards per game this season. Seven targets a game gives a tight end a real floor. If you’re in need of one, Finley is worth the claim before everyone else catches on.

The Week 5 Names Headed for a Bump

That’s the Week 5 rostership risers list. There is a quarterback with wheels, a running back on a hot streak, a touchdown machine at receiver, and a tight end whose target share doesn’t care who’s under center. To review, these are The Week 5 Names Headed for a Bump, so keep your eyes peeled as a few names could explode in value by Tuesday. If I’m right, a few of these names will look a lot more expensive by Tuesday. So get your claims in early. I’ll be back Thursday with my sicko list of deeper cuts. Good luck in your Week 5 matchups, and I’ll see you on Thursday!
