NASCAR DFS: Great American Getaway 400 @ Pocono Raceway

Welcome back, NASCAR fans. This week, the Cup heads to another unique track in Pocono Raceway for the Great American Getaway 400. What makes Pocono so unique is that it’s the only three-turn track on the circuit, with each of those turns designed after other tracks. Turn one after Trenton Speedway, turn two after Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and turn three after the Milwaukee Mile.

In this article, we will preview the track, look at some trends here over the years, and then identify some drivers to watch closely going into the weekend.

Track Preview & Fantasy Angle

Pocono Raceway is a 2.5-mile Tri-Oval with each of the three turns being unique. Turn one has 14 degrees of banking, turn two has eight degrees of banking, and turn three ha six degrees of banking. Similar to Michigan, Pocono races a bit like a superspeedway, minus the drafting and pack racing we see at Talladega and Daytona. The biggest challenge for teams is getting the car set up to run well in all three turns. Getting two of the three right can work, provided the car isn’t terrible in the third.

When looking at correlations between starting position and finishing position, Pocono is one of the highest in the Cup Series, and especially so over the last two years. Qualifying is always very important. With just 160 laps in the race, dominators are less important but still should be a part of the build strategy. The top dominator has led 60 or more laps in three of the four NextGen races here, and there has been a sizable gap to the driver with the second most laps led. Place differential is a factor, as always, but the number of drivers to tally double-digit place differential has been very low in the NextGen era(6, 4, 7, 5).

Top Pre-Qualifying Targets for DraftKings

Denny Hamlin ($11,000)

There is an argument to be made that Denny should be priced here at Pocono like we see SVG at a road course. I say this as he has two wins and two runner-up finishes in the four NextGen races here and has finished 1st or 2nd in seven of the last nine races here overall. Making me feel even better about the #11 team this week is that they are also coming off back-to-back wins at Michigan and Nashville. Easily #1 in my model this week!

Tyler Reddick ($10,300)

The price on Reddick is finally starting to trend back down, making it a great time to load up on the 2026 wins leader. He had a terrible run here last year (32nd), but overall has been consistent in the NextGen era with finishes of 6th or better in the other three races, including a runner-up in 2023.

Chase Elliott ($9,200)

Elliott comes in at the bottom of the top tier and that just screams value this week. He is the only other driver outside of Denny who has finished all four NextGen races at Pocono inside the Top 10 with a 6.8 average finish. The form has been very up and down lately but the PTS/$ upside and track history can’t be ignored.

Erik Jones ($7,500)

Jones is coming off a season-high 2nd-place finish at Michigan and checks a lot of boxes here at Pocono. He has been very consistent, finishing 14th or better in all four NextGen races here, and has also tallied five career top 5 finishes at the track. With that track history comes the 5th best form coming in, making him my top value play going into practice and qualifying.
