NFL DFS Late Slate Picks for Week 8

Happy Halloween to all my DFS Degen friends! Welcome to the spooky version of the Late Slate.

The Dolphins checked under the bed for monsters and found Drake Maye, Rhamondre Stevenson, and Hunter Henry. Maye can haunt them through the air or on the ground, Stevenson is coming for their candy, and Henry is lurking in the end zone. Let’s find the treats in the Week 8 Late Slate, and leave the tricks for someone else’s lineup.

Week 8 Late Slate Games:

Game Kickoff ET
Los Angeles Chargers at Los Angeles Rams 4:05 p.m.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos 4:25 p.m.
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins 4:25 p.m.

Quarterbacks

Player Opponent FanDuel DraftKings
Drake Maye, NE at MIA $8,200 $6,500
Matthew Stafford, LAR vs. LAC $7,600 $6,400
Patrick Mahomes, KC at DEN $7,900 $6,000

Drake Maye, New England Patriots

Maye gives us two ways to attack a Miami defense. The Dolphins give up the seventh-most quarterback fantasy points weekly. He averages 254.9 passing yards and 30.1 rushing yards per game, adding useful production with his legs even when the passing touchdowns don’t cooperate. You can call him Mr. Konami Code. Maye moves to the top of my quarterback list for this slate, with Hunter Henry as a good stacking partner.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Stafford is another good option, especially paired with Puka Nacua. The Chargers’ secondary injuries make Stafford even more attractive, including Derwin James missing Thursday’s practice. We are looking at a player averaging 284 yards per game so far this season. He also passed 14 touchdowns, averaging 2 per game.

Running Backs

Player Opponent FanDuel DraftKings
Kenneth Walker III, KC at DEN $9,000 $8,800
Kyren Williams, LAR vs. LAC $7,600 $7,500
Rhamondre Stevenson, NE at MIA $6,500 $5,600
Blake Corum, LAR vs. LAC $5,900 $5,000
Jonah Coleman, DEN vs. KC $5,300 $4,300

Kenneth Walker III, Kansas City Chiefs

Walker has had over 20 touches in all but one game this season. The Chiefs play the Broncos in Week 8. The Broncos give up the 12th most fantasy points to opposing teams’ running backs. In Week 7, Walker also had 20% of Kansas City’s targets. He will most likely be active on the ground and through the air. Look for Walker to maintain his high volume of touches against the Broncos ‘ run-funnel defense.

Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams

Williams rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown against Las Vegas. Kyren is a solid option in a game where the Rams could build a lead and lean on their backfield. Pairing him with the Rams defense gives our lineup a clear path: get ahead, run the football, and pressure Herbert into mistakes and short fields.

Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots

Stevenson gets a Miami defense allowing the fourth-most running back fantasy points. His averages of 13.9 touches and 69.8 scrimmage yards provide a foundation, while receiving work adds value especially on DraftKings. Henderson missed Thursday’s practice with an illness; if he cannot play, Stevenson’s workload outlook becomes more attractive.

Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams

Corum is making it difficult to call him merely an insurance policy. His recent workload gives us a reason to consider him beyond chasing last week’s touchdown. At $5,000 on DraftKings, he creates room for Puka or Walker. In Week 7, Corum ran the ball 17 times for 93 yards and a touchdown. The Chargers defense gives up the 10th most fantasy points to opposing teams’ running backs. Look for the Rams to get a big lead again in Week 8 and run all over the Chargers.

Jonah Coleman, Denver Broncos

Coleman returned from injury with nine carries for 54 yards and two receptions for another 15. He handled most of the Broncos’ running back snaps in Week 7. His 69 yards on 11 touches also led the Broncos backfield. Sean Payton’s response was that Coleman needs more touches. He is a nice low-priced option in Week 8.

Wide Receivers

Player Opponent FanDuel DraftKings
Puka Nacua, LAR vs. LAC $9,100 $8,600
Ladd McConkey, LAC at LAR $6,000 $5,300
Xavier Worthy, KC at DEN $6,100 $4,900
Demario Douglas, NE at MIA $5,100 $4,400

Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams

Puka has a 24% target share and a 24.7% air yards share for the Rams offense.  With Adams out, these numbers will likely rise.  The matchup isn’t ideal, as the Chargers are tough against the pass. He should still see 10 targets or so this week.

Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers

The matchup isn’t ideal for McConkey as well. The good news is the Chargers should be down and needing to throw the ball. If you want to see what McConkey has done this season so far, close your eyes and tell me what you see. The good news is he will most likely lead the Chargers in targets.

Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs

Worthy’s 18.3% target share gives him opportunity despite his big-play profile. Denver is a difficult opponent, but an inexpensive Mahomes partner can still matter in a small tournament player pool. If Rashee Rice is playing, I will pivot him. I know Worthy has not exactly been worthy of a lineup spot, but in the Late Slate I would use him.

Demario Douglas, New England Patriots

If you want another inexpensive option, welcome Douglas. He caught three of four targets for 23 yards in Week 7. He is a secondary option in this passing offense, so there are no guarantees here, but he has scored three touchdowns over the past three games.

Tight Ends

Player Opponent FanDuel DraftKings
Travis Kelce, KC at DEN $5,400 $5,000
Hunter Henry, NE at MIA $5,200 $4,300
Colby Parkinson, LAR vs. LAC $5,100 $3,100
Eli Raridon, NE at MIA $4,500 $3,300

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs

Kelce’s 17.8% target share provides a receiving foundation and makes him a straightforward Mahomes stacking partner. His Thursday ankle issue makes the final injury report important. If cleared for his usual role, Kelce remains an appealing option for lineups built around Kansas City’s passing production.

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

Henry combines a favorable matchup with an established receiving role. Since Week 4, he has drawn a 15.7% target share and four red-zone targets. Miami has allowed the most fantasy points per opportunity to tight ends over its past five games, putting Henry firmly among my preferred plays at the position. Stack him with Maye and let the Patriots do some money-making.

Colby Parkinson, Los Angeles Rams

Parkinson is my preferred Rams tight end if he’s healthy enough to play his normal role. He has six targets and 5 receptions in each of his past two games and led the Rams’ tight ends with five catches for 48 yards last week. Higbee runs more routes, but Parkinson has been earning the football. If Parkinson is out, take a pivot here to Higbee.

Eli Raridon, New England Patriots

Raridon caught three of four targets for 56 yards and a touchdown last week. New England’s multiple-tight-end formations give him a role alongside Henry, making him a cheaper tournament alternative in the same favorable matchup. Henry runs more routes, but Raridon’s $3,300 DraftKings salary leaves room elsewhere. You don’t need a team’s leading receiver to help a DFS lineup.

Defense

Defense Opponent FanDuel DraftKings
Los Angeles Rams vs. LAC $4,500 $3,500

Los Angeles Rams

The Chargers give up the most fantasy points to opposing teams’ defenses. Through six games before their bye, Herbert took 21 sacks and threw eight interceptions. The Chargers have yet to score more than 15 points in any game this season.

The Late Slate Reedy Rule: On a three-game slate, make your lineup tell a story—and give the inexpensive characters enough touches to matter.
