NFL DraftKings Plays: Super Bowl Sunday

The final DraftKings slate of the 2025 NFL is upon us. And we have a fantastic Super Bowl matchup to close it out. The Seattle Seahawks are taking on the New England Patriots in Santa Clara, California, for the chance to take home the Lombardi trophy.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax this season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune for next season.

Entering this matchup, the Seahawks are favored by 4.5 points by the oddsmakers and appear to be the stronger team on paper after beating the Los Angeles Rams in a thrilling NFC title game. Seattle’s implied total is 25 points, while New England’s implied total is 20. The weather is a non-factor in California; it will be around 60 degrees at the start of the game, and there are no impacting factors to worry about. However, we will be worrying about the offenses scoring in this one; even with a moderate total, this game could easily go under 45.5 points. Both teams were in the top 11 in estimated points added on defense this season. And both have looked the part, except Seattle against the Rams, who they have trouble with. There is a clear top option for this showdown slate, though, and he will be our main target.

Favorite Super Bowl Sunday DraftKings Plays

Captain Play: Jaxson Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks (17.4K)

The Offensive Player of the Year is the clear-cut choice to receive the 1.5 times multiplier from the captain spot. Smith-Njigba is coming off a game in which he scored 34.3 DraftKings points. And it is not out of the realm of possibilities for him to do it again. Smith-Njigba will see both Marcus Jones and his fair share of Christian Gonzalez. While Gonzalez is a tough matchup, he has had a rough postseason to date. He is giving up the most yards of any New England defender on this playoff run.

Another reason to lock in Smith-Njigba is that the Patriots run a heavy dose of man coverage. They are top ten in the league in man coverage percentage, and Smith-Njigba is PFF’s highest graded receiver against man coverage. With many players facing tough matchups in this contest, JSN actually has one worth targeting. And for those reasons, he is your ideal captain for the big game.

Flex Play: Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks (10.8K)

Who would have thought years ago that Sam Darnold would be playing in a Super Bowl? His being here is just a testament to his perseverance over the years. And now he has a fantastic chance to walk away with the MVP of the game and be in the optimal DraftKings lineup. Do not get me wrong, the Patriots are formidable against the pass. However, Darnold has shown he can get it done against the elite defenses after throwing for 346 yards against the Rams two weeks ago and 270 yards in the other two meetings. And the best way to beat Sam Darnold is to generate pressure and get after Sam Darnold.

That is the one key component that this Patriots defense is missing. They were 26th in sacks during the regular season. And while they are first in sacks in the postseason, they did get eight of their league-leading 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans. If they bring the same amount of pressure they did against Denver, then this slate is turned on its head, and we see a repeat of Rams and Patriots from a few years back. And that possibility is certainly not out of the question. I am trusting Sam Darnold to finally and once and for all, vanish all of his ghosts on this Super Bowl Sunday.

Flex Play: Rashid Shaheed, Seattle Seahawks (4.2k)

Doubling up on Seahawks wide receivers for this matchup. And you’ll also get to double up on points if you play Seattle’s defense as well, and Shaheed scores a special teams touchdown. Shaheed can score anytime he touches the ball and is one of the league’s most dynamic players. Yes, the Patriots have limited big plays through the air. However, the Seahawks have been creative in getting the ball in Shaheed’s hands. And given that Shaheed likely cracks the optimal lineup with one big play at his salary. He should be at the top of most people’s list to squeeze into lineups.

Flex Play: TreVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots (3.8k)

Look, I understand that Henderson hasn’t had more than five DraftKings points in any of the team’s playoff games this year. However, for showdown slates, you have to take chances. Seattle has limited explosive runs this season, allowing the fewest 20+ yard carries and only one carry of over 40 yards. To boot, Rhamondre Stevenson has taken over the backfield recently, and doesn’t look like he’s relinquishing it anytime soon. These signs all point against Henderson. The Patriots will be hunting for explosive plays against this talented defense. And all it takes is one, like we’ve seen several times from Henderson this season. Henderson is a better player in tournaments rather than cash games. And carries a ton of risk heading into this one, but has anyone won a DraftKings contest by playing it safe?

Kickers and Defenses

As I mentioned earlier, this could be a low-scoring affair. If a pass rusher steps up for New England and Seattle continues their reign of dominance, both defenses could crack the optimal lineup. I think both find relative success early in this one, with both teams struggling to settle in on this big stage.

Both kickers could be options as well. I am hesitant to play them at their salary points. With them both $5,000 or above, in Jason Myers’s case. I would rather take the chance on Cooper Kupp scoring a touchdown over the kickers. If you were to choose a kicker, Myers has been the more active one this season, attempting 13 more field goals than Andy Borregalas.

Final Thoughts

The season has officially flown by. We have arrived at the last game, and we will likely get a closer one than last year. However, as an Eagles fan, I was more than okay with that outcome. For the showdown slate, I didn’t mention players such as Kenneth Walker, Drake Maye, or Stefon Diggs. Those players and more should be in your player pool if you are playing multiple lineups.

Do not be afraid to make a lineup with a salary below the $50,000 maximum. If you use the full $50,000, the lineup will not be unique, and the money splits among a ton of people if you hit the optimal lineup. Keep the player pool open, craft a narrative, and most of all, enjoy the big game. And thanks, everyone, for a great season!
