DraftKings NFL DFS Plays: Week 2

Week 2 of the DraftKings main slate is just around the corner. And while Week 1 spoiled us. Week 2 has a few matchups that suggest we will get some of the same. We will do two plays per position, one being my favorite no matter the ownership on DraftKings. And a second play that will allow a lineup to be different with a player who is low-owned on DraftKings compared to the field. So let’s dive into my favorite quarterback play on DraftKings this week.

NFL DFS: Week 2 DraftKings Plays

Quarterback

Favorite Play: Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys ($6,300)

Prescott plays the Washington Commanders this week. A defense that, for the most part, held its own against the Philadelphia Eagles. Saquon Barkley scored only nine DraftKings points in the matchup. However, that likely was because of the offensive line. Despite that, Jalen Hurts had a great showing, throwing for three scores against a weak Commanders secondary. Now Prescott gets to attack it in a game with the highest projected total on the DraftKings main slate: 50.5 points. Dallas projects for the third-most points on Sunday, accounting for 27.5 points of that total. Prescott and the passing game will look to bounce back in a great spot for the offense. The Commanders allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks in Week 1. They also allowed the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2025. After the Week 1 start, I don’t expect that number to differ much in 2026.

Contrarian Play: Drake Maye, New England Patriots ($6,100)

After losing A.J. Brown to an ankle injury and throwing three disastrous interceptions in the first game of the season. Next to nobody will be playing Drake Maye on DraftKings in their Week 2 lineups. All eyes will be on Maye in what will be a presumably tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers had a successful Week 1, but that is due to their opponent, the Atlanta Falcons. Cooper Rush is their third-string quarterback, which means we can discount that performance. In 2025, they gave up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Even with new pieces in the secondary and Joey Porter Jr. still out, I expect the Steelers to give up their fair share of fantasy points. I expect a bounce-back from Drake Maye, given that the defense ran Cover 6 only 7.7% of the time, while the Seahawks ran it 40.5% in Week 1.

Running Back

Favorite Play: Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers ($5,800)

Hubbard got the dream matchup last week against the Chicago Bears. He capitalized, scoring 23.7 DraftKings points. Now he faces the Atlanta Falcons. The biggest takeaway from Week 1 is that it looks like he is the number one back in Carolina. Hubbard saw the field for 71% of snaps and 100% of snaps the team took inside the 20-yard line. Now he gets to play against an Atlanta team missing players in the front seven. James Pearce Jr. is serving a suspension while Jalon Walker tore his ACL in August, and now depth defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand is out for the season with a quad injury.

Hubbard looks to get the bell cow role again, though Brooks’ role could creep up in the future. No drastic change should happen within a week. Add in the potential targets and a favorable game script, and Atlanta will likely start Cooper Rush again. Hubbard is in line to have another massive week for DraftKings and fantasy managers alike.

Contrarian Play: Marshawn Lloyd, Green Bay Packers ($5,300)

Lloyd disappointed DraftKings users last week against the Minnesota Vikings. The running back was one of the offseason’s hottest names. He found himself in a poor spot in Week 1. Lloyd only had 37 rushing yards and was on the field for less than 50% of the team’s snaps. Lloyd was the odd man out.

This week he has a much better matchup against the Jets. The Packers are -200 favorites, which sets up a great game script for Lloyd, who is +140 to score. That is the second-best odds in the game. Lloyd has the opportunity to bounce back at low ownership, which will greatly benefit DraftKings users.

Wide Receiver

Favorite Play: Garrett Wilson, New York Jets ($6,000)

Everything was there for Wilson in Week 1, aside from a touchdown. Wilson had a 30.4% target share. He had almost 50% of the team’s air yards in the win. A complete showing from the wide receiver who has been searching for quarterback play since he entered the league.

If Geno Smith continues his competent play, Wilson could card his second WR1 fantasy season this year. This week, they face the Green Bay Packers. They faced a consolidated passing attack in Week 1 as well when they played the Minnesota Vikings. Justin Jefferson was the only receiver to catch a pass for the Vikings. He went off for eight catches, 98 yards, and two touchdowns. I’m trusting Wilson to deliver a similar performance at a much cheaper DraftKings salary than Jefferson.

Contrarian Play: Makai Lemon, Philadelphia Eagles ($4,600)

Don’t make any mistakes; the tape was better than Lemon’s final stat line. Lemon was open on the Goedert touchdown and several other times during the game. Everyone will look at the stat line and his negative receiving yards. And for that reason, no one will play him on DraftKings. Tennessee profiles as an easy matchup, with both Garrett Wilson and A.D. Mitchell finding success last week. Lemon is an afterthought after a bad Week 1 stat line. Trust the tape; Jalen Hurts will find him against a weak Tennessee secondary.

Tight End

Favorite Play: Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals ($6,900)

It would be disingenuous not to list McBride as my favorite play. McBride had a monster week against the Los Angeles Chargers. He racked up 13 targets, catching nine of them for 95 yards and a touchdown. And that dominance should continue even against the reigning Super Bowl champions. In two games against them last year, McBride had a combined 16 catches on 24 targets for 179 yards and one touchdown. McBride is a premium pay-up option at the position and the number one option at tight end until further notice.

Contrarian Play: Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons ($4,500)

Look, if this is too contrarian, I understand. He and Loveland both put up zeros this past week. The thing is, Loveland isn’t contrarian at all, and DraftKings users will instantly go back to him. With Cooper Rush as the starter, Pitts might be in under 1% of lineups. And yes, Rush did miss him on a 60-yard touchdown. However, the tight end position did succeed against Carolina last week, with Cole Kmet catching a touchdown. Playing Pitts is the ultimate contrarian play, just as Brian Thomas Jr. was in Week 1. That started well, but an injury crushed that momentum. The situation is far worse in Atlanta. That makes the contrarian opportunity even bigger on DraftKings this week.

Final Thoughts

Week 2 of the DraftKings slate has massive potential. After the highest-scoring Week 1, this week already started with 72 points from the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions. Offenses seem back in full force after a brief window for the defenses. Remember to check the totals, potential weather, and injury reports. Best of luck to everyone!
