Sleepers and Streamers is back, and that means the NFL season has finally arrived. There are bona fide studs that are started every given week, but what usually gets you a win are those guys people are not looking to start. Streamers can be players you can start, given their matchups. Sleepers are players people would not even consider, and need some insight to start. Here are Week 1’s QB Sleepers and Streamers.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.
Quarterback Sleepers
Michael Penix Jr. (QB23) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It is a new era for the Atlanta Falcons as Michael Penix Jr. is set to start in Week 1. There is a lot to be hopeful for with the Falcons’ offense. It features Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts. Penix Jr. is listed as the QB23 and faces a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that gave up the second-most ppg to QBs in 2024.
There has been great hype surrounding the young QB this offseason, and it should continue in Week 1. Also, the Buccaneers gave up over 260 ypg with 27 touchdowns to QBs in 2024, making Penix Jr. a great choice for sleepers and streamers.
J.J. McCarthy (QB20) @ Chicago Bears
First, the Minnesota Vikings had an elite offense in 2024 with Sam Darnold. Now, J.J. McCarthy is set to make his debut after being out all last season. Although he his facing a Chicago Bears team that gave up the second fewest points to QBs in 2024, Darnold put up numbers against them.
Last season, Darnold finished as the QB6 and the QB20 in two games against the Bears. In one game, he had 330 passing yards, and 231 in the other one. Therefore, I am planting my flag on McCarthy to be the best sleeper QB someone can start in Week 1.
Quarterback Streamers
Dak Prescott (QB16) @ Philadelphia Eagles
To begin with, the Dallas Cowboys traded away Micah Parsons. In addition, they have the worst running back room in the NFL. Dak Prescott having to throw it over 35 times in every game is an understatement. Prescott might end up having the most pass attempts in 2025 and throw over 40 times in every game. Prescott did not play against the Philadelphia Eagles last season, but he threw it 44 times and 39 times in two matchups in 2023. This Thursday, expect Prescott to do the same thing. In those two games, Prescott was the QB14 and the QB2. Expect similar results for my favorite streamer in sleepers and streamers on the opening game for the 2025 season. Prescott is my favorite QB for sleepers and streamers in Week 1.
C.J. Stroud (QB18) @ Los Angeles Rams
C.J. Stroud has thrown it 1,031 times in his first two seasons. That is the 13th most all-time in a QB’s first two seasons. The Houston Texans will once again be a high-volume passing offense, yet Stroud is QB18 for Week 1. Nico Collins is healthy, and Christian Kirk is on the team now. They also have a rookie, Jayden Higgins. This offense will be airing it out every single week. Although Stroud does not do much for his legs, he is a viable streamer in Week 1. There will be no Joe Mixon, and an aging Nick Chubb will be the team’s RB1.
