Week 11 Recap

Our calls were split down the middle in Week 11, with two great calls and two that were…. not so great. It was a weird week with mostly low totals across the board, but our Streamers really stepped up.

Brock Purdy returned to the starting lineup this week, and our call to start him was definitely a win. While he only scored about 19 fantasy points, he still finished as the QB #5 heading into Monday night. The offense seems to be getting healthier with Ricky Pearsall also returning, and the schedule is decent moving forward. Purdy could absolutely turn into a league winner.

Davis Mills was also a strong play, finishing as the current QB #8 (albeit with only about 16 points). Like Stroud, he had a hard time getting much going behind the Houston offensive line. He was still able to put together enough for this to be one of our wins, and he has helped Nico Collins to a strong finish in two straight weeks.

Our Sleeper calls didn’t fair so well. Joe Flacco finally came back down to earth. The Steelers were able to pressure him all day, getting revenge after their past matchup. Caleb Williams got a win for the Bears, but not us. The two finished back-to-back on the week, barely scoring 10 points each.

Full Season Tally: 27-19

Let’s see if we can do better than a coin flip in Week 12.

Week 12 Quarterback Sleepers

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers QB vs. Carolina Panthers

With Brock Purdy officially back as the starter, he is graduating from a Streamer call to a Sleeper, and earns a repeat mention for Week 12.

Purdy showed little rust in his return to action. He appears to be his same efficient self, completing 73% of his passes against the Cardinals and throwing for three touchdowns. The Panthers have had a handful of decent defensive performances, but they shouldn’t put up much more of a fight than Arizona did last week.

Along with Purdy, the Niners seem to be getting their offense back to full health. Ricky Pearsall came back from a five-week absence. He didn’t do much, but it’s encouraging to see him out there, and we would expect him to get more work this week. George Kittle also seems to be back to 100%. He nabbed his first multi-touchdown game of the year and should be looking to build off of it. Then of course, there’s CMC, whose passing volume will always help prop up Purdy’s stats.

The biggest concern with Purdy is that his toe injury could get reaggravated or hamper his mobility. He only had one rush in Week 11 for -7 yards. While he’s never been a big yardage runner, his scrambling has always been one of his strengths. If he can’t move as freely, his floor will be lowered.

Overall, Purdy should be a strong start in Week 12. After that, though, you may need to look elsewhere for the remainder of the Fantasy regular season, as he takes on Cleveland in Week 13 and then is on a bye in Week 14.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions QB vs. New York Giants

It’s hard to endorse a player who is coming off the worst completion percentage of his career (38%!), but I think we need to write off Week 11 for Goff. The Eagles have produced back-to-back masterclasses on defense. They had a perfect game plan to take on the Lions and neutralize Goff. I don’t think the Giants have good enough personnel to replicate that plan this week.

Even if we count Week 11, Goff has scored multiple touchdowns in 60% of his matchups this year. Besides Week 11, Goff only has one other game this year below 67% completion percentage, which was against Cleveland in Week 4.

Now that Dan Campbell is calling plays, Jameson Williams has been more involved, which has led to more deep shots. Jahmyr Gibbs is also getting more looks in the passing game, setting his single-game receiving yardage record in Week 11. Sam LaPorta is clearly going to be missed while on injured reserve, but the Lions have other weapons like rookie Isaac Teslaa, who could help fill in.

I expect a return to form for Goff in this one. He gets the added benefit of getting to play at home in a dome, where he typically thrives. Put the bad game out of your mind and instead look at all of the positive ones. He’s rarely a ceiling play and shouldn’t be viewed as one in this game, but his typical high floor should be back.

Week 12 Quarterback Streamers

Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks QB @ Tennessee Titans

What better way to follow up on a season-low performance than with another? After having three turnovers in Week 10, Darnold followed that up by throwing four interceptions in Week 11. While I could mention this is his first four-pick game since 2019, having any games with that many interceptions is the wrong kind of impressive. The perpetual fear with Darnold is that he will inevitably revert to his early career self. Luckily, I don’t think that will be the case against the Titans.

Statistically, the Titans are middle of the road when it comes to passing yards and touchdowns allowed. When you look deeper, this has more to do with teams spending a lot of the time running out the clock against them, not needing to throw much.

The Seahawks’ defense should be able to keep the Titans off the field for most of this one. The additional time of possession should mean plenty of scoring options for Seattle. While it’s possible that the run more to try and protect the football, I doubt Darnold has lost the trust of his coaches. He’s put up great numbers this year before hitting this current slump. I think the team tries to let him air it out against Tennessee to get his confidence back.

Confidence, of course, is key here. Maybe I shouldn’t have any in Darnold, but I do. I think he’s a safe streamer this week, and could have more long-term value if he turns it back around.

Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals QB vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

There’s something endearing about the veteran backups who just sling the ball relentlessly when they see game action. It’s the ultimate show of “who cares, chuck it” from guys with nothing to lose. What’s the worst-case scenario? They get benched?

While you may think I’m setting up someone like Joe Flacco or Jameis Winston, it’s actually Jacoby Brissett for Week 12.

In his five starts this year, Brissett has attempted 44 or more passes in three of them! Against the Niners last week, he threw the ball 57 times and completed 82% of them for 452 yards! Sure, he also threw two picks, but with that much production, you can weather those.

Week 11 was also Brissett’s only game with negative rushing yardage. Prior to that, he had been averaging 20 yards per game on the ground, which adds a nice little sweetener on top of all the passing.

The team should get Marvin Harrison Jr. back this week after his appendectomy. We should also expect Michael Wilson to retain some volume after his monstrous 185-yard performance in Harrison’s absence. Add to that Trey McBride’s typical production, and an extremely depleted run game, and you have a recipe for fantasy success with Brissett.

Brissett has been a QB1 in every start this season. While the Jags have a good defense, I would wager on that streak continuing.  Along with Flacco, Brissett is the ultimate quarterback streamer moving forward, until we see anything different.
