Week 14 Fantasy Hockey Goalie Streams

Strong goalie streaming options are in abundance this week as a number of less rostered netminders of backups have stepped up recently to take the spotlight. This will give you different looks this week, but should also give your opponents who may be in the market for a goalie streamer a chance to keep up. To give you the upper hand in hockey fantasy this week, I have chosen the three best potential goalies to stream.

Fantasy Hockey Week 14 Goalie Streams

Ilya Samsonov, Vegas Golden Knights

Ilya Samsonov has been excellent in recent weeks, going 5-0-0 with a .942 SV% since the start of December. He should be in store for at least one start this week, but likely two as the Vegas Golden Knights play four times including a back-to-back and he has been the better goalie as of late.

The Golden Knights are first in the NHL with a record of 27-9-3, so they are able to keep the puck out of their net and score goals to get wins. Samsonov should continue to win when he starts this week and the teams on tap aren’t too difficult. Vegas matches up against the San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, and a Kirill Kaprizov-less Minnesota Wild. I wouldn’t bet against the Golden Knights sweeping the week and continuing their dominance when either goalie is in. So Samsonov is a great choice for this week, especially with the more starts he gets.

Alex Lyon, Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have been a disappointment this entire season, but are now starting to pick it up after changing head coaches. Alex Lyon has been the benefactor of that change as he has now won three of the last four. It helped him and anyone who has grabbed or will pick up Lyon that Cam Talbot hasn’t been the same since coming back from injury. This means that there is even more of a reason to stream Lyon for the time being.

Lyon has won three starts in a row with a .920 SV% and is on a 6-1-0 stretch of games in net. The Red Wings face the Ottawa Senators, Chicago Blackhawks, and Seattle Kraken, so it is a bit of an easier road ahead for this team on the upswing. He should get two of the three starts with how he’s been playing.

Yaroslav Askarov, San Jose Sharks

The Sharks may still be among the bottom teams in the league, but their future in net has arrived. Now that Yaroslav Askarov has been given a chance, he has proven that he can already be the number one goalie of the team. He is 3-2-2 on the season, but has put forth a great outing in six of seven starts. Just once has the young netminder not given the Sharks a .917 SV% or better.

Askarov has played in five of the last seven games and won two in a row. The Sharks can score with Macklin Celebrini in the lineup, so if Askarov continues to play the way he has, he should have the starting job locked down and provide you with solid numbers. The team plays against the Golden Knights and then the Utah Hockey Club and the Wild back-to-back. Askarov should start in two of those and likely get the easier matchup against Utah rather than Minnesota.

While some weeks are tougher to find help in net, this won’t be one of those. A couple of goalies have the potential to provide value past this week, so pay attention to that if said netminders suit your needs. Be sure to check back next Monday for more of the best streaming options in goal.
