The Week 14 tight end rankings are feeling the squeeze, with the final six-team bye week taking a toll. Injuries also add to the crunch as Dallas Goedert and Taysom Hill are missing from the ranks. With fantasy playoffs a week away in most leagues, finding those exploitable matchups becomes even more crucial. To see which players can give your fantasy lineups a boost, let’s get to the Week 14 tight end rankings.
Tight Ends on Bye in Week 14
Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely, Dalton Schultz, Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper, Zach Ertz
Injury Notes for Week 14
- Dallas Goedert suffered a knee injury in Week 13 and is considered week-to-week. Grant Calcaterra was a solid fill-in earlier this season and will take over as the primary tight end in the interim. Calcaterra has a favorable matchup against Carolina this week and is an intriguing TE2 in Week 14.
- Taysom Hill tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Juwan Johnson will see an expanded role, as the Saints are desperate for pass-catchers.
- Jake Ferguson missed two weeks with a concussion and his Week 14 status is up in the air. If he misses more time, Luke Schoonmaker will continue to start for the Cowboys. Either option is a solid Week 14 streamer in a favorable matchup against the Bengals.
- Ja’Tavion Sanders missed last week with a neck injury and is questionable for Week 14 against a stingy Eagles defense.
- Theo Johnson landed on the IR with a foot injury and will miss the rest of the season. Daniel Bellinger will likely operate as the Giants’ primary pass-catching tight end moving forward.
Tight End Notes
Bye Weeks: BAL, DEN, HOU, IND, NE, WAS
- Cade Otton continues to be heavily involved in the Buccaneers’ offense, with a healthy 20% target share on the year. Unfortunately, the yardage hasn’t been there recently, as Otton hasn’t topped 35 yards in his past three games. However, that could change with a juicy matchup against the Raiders this week. Las Vegas has allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends this season. They’ve been especially shaky in the past month, coughing up either 90-plus receiving yards or a touchdown to the position in four of the past five weeks. Otton is in a prime position to produce this week and ranks as TE7 in the Week 14 tight end rankings.
- It’s been an underwhelming season for Sam LaPorta, but he’s picked things up of late. He’s seen six targets in four of his last five games, ranking as TE9 in that stretch. Also, LaPorta’s four touchdowns in those five weeks tie for most among tight ends. The looks should keep coming in Week 14. LaPorta faces a beatable Green Bay defense that has given up the sixth-most receptions and seventh-most receiving yards to the position. The unit is also allowing 11.6 half-PPR points to tight ends this year. LaPorta is a top-8 option in the Week 14 tight end rankings.
- Will Dissly is coming off his worst start of the season. He put up a goose egg after failing to catch his lone target on the day. However, look for Dissly to rebound in a favorable matchup against the Chiefs in Week 14. Kansas City has surrendered the most receptions and receiving yards to tight ends. They’re also allowing 13.5 half-PPR points to the position, tied for second-most this season. Dissly trails only Ladd McConkey in target shares since Week 6. It’s also worth noting that McConkey picked up a knee injury in Week 13 and could miss this week. If that’s the case, look for the Chargers to lean on Dissly more than usual. Dissly ranks as a back-end TE1 in the Week 14 tight end rankings.
- Grant Calcaterra could come in handy if you find yourself in a bind at tight end this week. He takes over as the Eagles’ primary tight end with Dallas Goedert sidelined with a knee injury. Calcaterra was a solid replacement earlier this season when Goedert missed time, acquiring a 16% target share and a combined 160 yards across a four-game span. Calcaterra could make some noise in Week 14 with a favorable matchup against the Panthers. Carolina has ceded the most touchdowns and the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends this year. Calcaterra ranks as a mid-tier TE2 with upside in the Week 14 tight end rankings and is worth considering in deeper leagues.
