Week 15 Recap
We had a strong slew of starts for the opening round. Three of our picks were strong hits, while one let us down.
Trevor Lawrence was probably our best call all season. He had five touchdowns through the air and another on the ground. Needless to say, he was the top quarterback of the week.
Jaxson Dart was also a Top-12 call for us. He continues to pad his points with strong rushing numbers. He’ll be a strong play every week.
Baker Mayfield wasn’t his best self, but he still got us a W with just under 20 fantasy points. With Evans and Godwin back in action, we could see a few monster games to close out the season.
Finally, Sam Darnold was our lone bad call last week. He’s had 11 points or fewer in four of the past six weeks, so it seems like the shine has worn off for the most part.
Full Season Tally: 39-23
Now let’s go over the Week 16 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers that can get you into the championship.
Week 16 Quarterback Sleepers
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers QB @ Chicago Bears
By Week 9, Herbert was looking like a league winner. Since Week 10, he hasn’t hit 15 fantasy points. This precedes the hand injury, so don’t rely on that excuse. The Chargers have just seemed out of sync, but luckily, the Cowboys are the perfect matchup to get back on track.
Dallas has allowed at least 24 points in every game this season. Three of these games went over 40. They even just allowed the J.J. McCarthy led Vikings to drop 34 on them.
The Cowboys are especially susceptible through the air, giving up the most passing yards per game in the league.
The Chargers are already a near-playoff lock, but still have something to play for. While it’s unlikely they catch the Broncos for the #1 seed, it’s not impossible. The Cowboys have longer odds but are still alive and should still be playing hard. This could easily be one of the highest-scoring games of the week.
Expect the Chargers to put up points, likely on the back of Herbert. At this point, we should have no concerns about the hand injury. It hasn’t been pretty lately, but it will be really ugly to have him blow up on your bench this week.
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers QB @ Chicago Bears
Love has been another hot-and-cold quarterback this season. He’s had four games with at least three passing touchdowns, but another three without any.
Chicago has been a bottom-half team in terms of opponents’ passing yards per game. They also give up the third-most passing touchdowns per game.
Green Bay has had trouble staying healthy this year. There’s a good chance that Christian Watson will miss this game, but Jayden Reed seems to be back to full health. Micah Parsons is now out for the season, which should make it easier for the Bears to score.
Speaking of which, the Bears have been a scoring machine this year. They’ve scored at least 21 points in each of their past four games. They’ve hit 30+ four times this year, including a 47-point performance.
Just like the previous matchup, this game has a chance of being the highest-scoring in Week 16.
Both teams are likely to be throwing haymakers from the first whistle. Love has stepped up big when the team has needed him to this year. He’s been the QB1 already this year. He could do it again this week.
Week 16 Quarterback Streamers
Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals QB vs. Atlanta Falcons
Yes, I understand this is a layup pick, but until Brissett’s added in over half of leagues, I’ll need to keep bringing him up.
I didn’t plug him last week because he was going up against the elite Texans defense. To be fair, they did hold him to his lowest yardage total on the year. To be fair to Jacoby, he still threw for 249 yards and scored over 20 fantasy points.
To date, his lowest fantasy outing on the year was 18.6 points. He’s turned Trey McBride into the player we all anticipated coming into this season, and Michael Wilson into an elite WR option. The Cardinals just lost another RB in Bam Knight, which could put even more of the workload on Brissett.
The Falcons have given up at least 24 points in seven of their past eight games. This includes 27 points by the Jets. The only team they held under that total is the Saints.
I don’t think there’s anyone who can argue that Brissett isn’t the ultimate league winner this year. Until we see otherwise, we need to believe that this run is for real. I wouldn’t dare jump to another QB if I have him.
C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans QB vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Stroud brings us back to the rollercoaster QBs. He almost scored more points in Week 15 (23.6) than he has in his past three starts combined (26). Granted, he left with an injury in one of those starts, but he’s still had six games this year with 13 or fewer fantasy points.
Unlike a lot of other quarterbacks on this list, Stroud’s good games have been fairly predictable. He’s scored well against bad defenses and struggled mightily against the good ones. He gets a soft matchup with the Raiders in Week 16.
The Raiders have given up at least 24 points in each of their past five games, including one against the Shadeur Sanders led Browns. They’ve also given up at least 30 points on seven different occasions this year.
Houston has one of the best defenses in the league. Odds are Kenny Pickett will start for the Raiders. He couldn’t stay on the field against the Eagles, and will likely have even worse luck here. Stroud will have plenty of time with the ball in his hands.
Stroud hasn’t been a reliable fantasy option since his rookie year. Luckily, you don’t need to rely on him for a full season here. He’s a good option when you can pick your spots. I would pick him in Week 16, even with my season on the line.
