Week 17 DraftKings NFL Prop Plays: Experience Wins Out

A complete and utter failure. A bust. To put things simply, Week 16 was an embarrassment from a prop play standpoint.

Mike Evans had 101 receiving yards less than the prior week as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had another tough loss. That’s better than TJ Hockenson, who essentially didn’t show up in Week 16 and caught just one pass for two yards. And maybe it’s just my bitterness, but it appears Oronde Gadsden peaked a few weeks ago.

Now that we have relitigated last week’s struggles, it’s over and done with. Quite simply, it has to be. All we can do is move forward to the following week. Let’s dig into our Week 17 NFL Prop Plays on DraftKings.

Week 17 NFL Prop Plays (DraftKings)

Kenneth Walker Over 53.5 Rushing Yards (-113)

While we never want to base our prop plays just on season averages, Kenneth Walker is averaging 59 rushing yards per game this season. If this were last week, Walker would have hit the mark just on his 55-yard touchdown run.

Walker is sharing the backfield with Zach Charbonnet, but he does receive the majority of the carries, albeit by a slight margin. From a matchup perspective, things also work in Walker’s favor after gaining 100 yards on 11 carries overall in Week 16. If we remove his big play, then it’s 10 carries for 45 yards. At 4.5 yards per carry, that’s a solid performance.

The good news, though, is that the Carolina Panthers are allowing 4.8 yards per carry this season. That has led to 120 yards per game, which ranks 19th in the league. Walker can hit his prop play in Week 17 by accounting for less than half of those yards.

Philip Rivers Over 206.5 Passing Yards (-113)

This is something I didn’t have on my bingo card. In 2025, I never expected to see Philip Rivers on an NFL field, let alone targeting him with a prop play. But after he threw for 277 yards last week, is it really that crazy?

After shaking off five years of rust, Rivers threw for just 120 yards in his debut. Last week, especially in the first half, things looked a lot different for the veteran quarterback. He found his groove against the San Francisco 49ers, and I’m expecting that to continue in Week 17. By no means is that expectation that Rivers will play at a Pro Bowl level, but he can continue to be a solid quarterback.

Rivers faces a Jacksonville team that’s ranked 25th in the league with 230 passing yards allowed per game. With the Colts likely playing from behind, they should be taking to the air, which means Rivers hits his prop play.

Bucky Irving Over 61.5 Rushing Yards (-112)

At some point, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to turn a corner and win a game. I think that comes against a Miami Dolphins team that has seemingly shut things down for the season.

Even when the Dolphins were seemingly trying to win games, they were ranked 26th in the league with 130 rushing yards allowed per game. In four of his eight games this season, Bucky Irving has eclipsed his rushing prop play. Since his return, Tampa Bay is leaning on Irving out of the backfield, and he should get the carries necessary to hit this mark. That’s especially true in the second half of Sunday’s game if Tampa Bay jumps out to a lead as expected.
