The Week 18 EPL Waiver Wire (under 50% rostered) is especially crucial as neither Manchester City nor Brentford play this weekend. Those relying on City players will need to make some moves. We are also still waiting on the final decision from the suspended Luton versus Bournemouth game, which could have implications later in the season if the game needs to be replayed. More importantly, we wish Tom Lockyer a safe and speedy recovery.
As always, focus on form and matchups for your EPL Waiver Wire choices. Picks for week 18 are listed below in order of most to least rostered in Fantrax.
Week 18 Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire
Jeffrey Schlupp – Defender – 22% Rostered – Crystal Palace vs Brighton
It was quite a result for Palace, and one has to say that they deserved the point against the defending champions, Manchester City. Nothing is free in the EPL, which is why I watch week in and week out. Schlupp is now a mainstay in the Palace lineup, and he notched his first assist last game. He plays box-to-box with some experience, and he’s involved on both sides of the ball. We will see if Palace can build on the strong result.
Djordje Petrovic – Goalkeeper – 20% Rostered – Chelsea vs Wolves
The backup Chelsea got a shutout in his game, with Robert Sanchez out. He made the only save he was called upon to make. I’m not convinced about Chelsea still and the result was against Sheffield United. Wolves aren’t exactly an offensive powerhouse right now, so if you need a keeper from the EPL waiver wire, the former MLS keeper is worth a look.
Lewis Miley – Midfielder – 15% Rostered – Luton vs Newcastle
The Newcastle youngster didn’t start last game for the first time in seven games. Many managers dropped or benched him, but Miley came on early and scored the first goal of his career. In previous games, Miley had opportunities to score, and with injuries still plaguing Newcastle, I think he’s a good bet to start again. Luton will be back home too, and coming off an emotional week.
Diego Carlos – Defender – 19% Rostered – Aston Villa vs Sheffield United
Aston Villa continues to impress and remain in third place. Diego Carlos has earned and retained his starting spot. There aren’t many Villa players open on the EPL waiver wires this week, as they host last-place SHU. I’ll be surprised if he is still unrostered at this level for long.
Remember there’s a Thursday kick-off, so be sure you check final injury reports and your lineup.
Good luck!
