Week 1 is always fun and unpredictable in EPL Draft. Managers should be active on the EPL waiver wire, especially early in the season.
Suggestions from last Danny Welbeck (goal and assist) and Willy Boly should remain on your radar this is if not yet claimed. I’m still curious how Smallbone will do moving forward, considering he put 12 crosses, even without much to show for it.
Fantrax Managers should be looking to balance their acquistions. This early in the season, you may find key break out players who can get points week in and out, or serve as solid bench cover. But don’t forget to play for each week as well.
On to the week 2 EPL waiver wire suggestions (under 50% rostered). They are listed below in order of most to least rostered in Fantrax.
Week 2 Fantasy EPL Draft Waiver Wire
Adama Traore– Forward – 23% Rostered – Fulham vs Leicester
In the opening game against Manchester United, Traore showed moments of the explosiveness that can eat up defenses. However, he failed to capitalize on his key chances, missing on all three shots. He will do that, but he also has the potential for big games. He’s still fast and quick and strong. He has a home game against newly promoted Leicester.
Mateo Kovacic – Midfielder – 20% Rostered – Manchester City vs Ipswich
Kovacic popped up for a rare goal in the opener for City. I wouldn’t bet on another one. He should get the start again with Rodri out still and after a good performance. City should control the game, especially at home against Ipswich. He’s most likely not someone you’re going hold onto going forward, but for another week, there’s value in picking him up on the EPL waiver wire.
Dean Huijsen – Defender – 3% Rostered – Bournemouth vs Newcastle
Huijsen had a very solid opening week for Bournemouth. Despite no major stats (goal, assist, or clean sheet), he still managed over double-digit points. He stacked up on defensive points, including nine aerials, six clearances, and a stash of other defensive stats. That’s the type of defender who can put up consistent points. They are home, but it’s not an easy matchup.
Francisco Evanilson – Forward – 1% Rostered – Bournemouth vs Newcastle
Bournemouth used the money from their sale of Dominic Solanke to go get the Brazilian attacker. They spent big too. He scored 25 goals last season for Porto, which is a quality tally in any league. He’s 6’0 feet and only 24. There’s nothing certain here, but there is a big potential upside. If you’ve got a roster spot and need a forward, he’s worth picking up on the EPL waiver wire.
It’s worth taking some chances.
Good luck!
