Week 2 Tight End Rankings for 2024 Fantasy Football

Let’s face it. Not only were the elite tight ends a disaster in Week 1 (minus Kyle Pitts), but the position as a whole was underwhelming. Tight ends accounted for only five touchdowns on the week, and only six tight ends scored more than eight fantasy points in half-PPR formats. Is it time to hit the panic button? Absolutely not. There’s a lot of football left to play in the season, and it’s vital not to overreact to one down week. On that note, let’s hit the refresh button and turn our attention to the Week 2 tight end rankings.

Injuries to monitor for Week 2

  • Tyler Ferguson is week-to-week with a bone bruise and an MCL sprain. Fantasy managers should have a backup plan if Ferguson is officially a no-go on Sunday.
  • David Njoku suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 and is considered week-to-week. Jordan Akins caught 3-of-4 passes for 27 yards in Njoku’s stead and could provide decent TE2 fantasy value while Njoku is sidelined.
  • Foster Moreau is in the league’s concussion protocol. He got off to a great start in Week 1, catching in all four of his passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. If Moreau sits in Week 2, Juwan Johnson could be a sneaky TE2 with upside against Dallas this week.

Tight End Notes

  • Dallas Goedert is the TE8 in my Week 2 tight end rankings. He gets a favorable matchup against Atlanta in the Eagles’ home opener. The Falcons gave up the third-most receptions and fourth-most receiving yards to tight ends last season. They also allowed 9.8 half-PPR points per game to the position, tied for ninth-most. Goedert is the third passing option on an Eagles team that racks up points and yards. Fly with Goedert this week.
  • Isaiah Likely popped off in Week 1 to the tune of 111 yards and a touchdown. He led all tight ends with a 29.3% target share and finished as the TE1 with 21.6 fantasy points. So what does that mean for Week 2? Can Likely and Mark Andrews both be fantasy-relevant each week? We’ll soon find out, but Likely’s production and 68.6% route participation rate alongside a healthy Andrews warrant our attention. Likely rounds out my top-10 tight ends in Week 2.
  • Boy, was I wrong about Brock Bowers. I faded him last week due to his foot injury and lack of preseason reps with quarterback Gardner Minshew. But that quickly came back to bite me. Bowers led the Raiders in targets (8) and hauled in six passes for 58 yards. While he didn’t find paydirt, Bowers commanded a 24.2% target share and finished as the week’s TE5 in half-PPR formats. Up next is a tough Week 2 matchup against Baltimore. However, the Raiders don’t have a ton of quality pass-catchers, and Bowers should continue to soak up targets — especially if the team finds itself in catch-up mode. Bowers ranks as the QB11 in my Week 2 tight end rankings.
  • Colby Parkinson finished as the TE7 last week, catching four of five targets for 47 yards. Most encouraging was his usage. Parkinson ran had an 82.4% route participation rate, and his 88.5% snap share was the sixth-highest at the position. Parkinson gets a favorable matchup this week against a mediocre Cardinals defense that gave up eight touchdowns to tight ends last season, tied for second-most. Parkinson could also get a boost in looks with Puka Nacua hitting the IL. Parkinson is a top-tier TE2 with upside for me this week.
