Fantrax EPL Draft managers should use the EPL Waiver Wire to navigate some interesting matchups for week 5. Manchester City is the only team with four wins from four games, and they get an early season test against second-place Arsenal.
Southampton and Everton have yet to pick up even a single point. Both play newly promoted teams this week.
Week 4 suggestions didn’t play out as one would hope, even though none were disaster picks either.
There were no real attacking players on the list last week, but for week 5 there are varied options for managers to consider for their rosters.
Week 5 EPL Waiver wire suggestions (under 50% rostered) are listed in order my most to least rostered.
Week 5 Fantasy EPL Draft Waiver Wire
Jhon Duran – Forward – 44% rostered – Aston Villa vs Wolves
The Villa super sub has three goals this season in just 99 minutes, all from the bench. He’s leading Villa in scoring. Aston Villa had a midweek Champions League game. At some point, Duran’s scoring will get him a start. More and more managers are picking him up, so he won’t be available for too much longer, especially if he scores against against Wolves, who ranked 19th in defense.
Mario Lemina – Midfielder – 31% Rostered – Aston Villa vs Wolves
Wolves had a tough schedule to start the year with Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, and now Aston Villa. But that hasn’t slowed the production of Lemina. He has a goal and an assist. While Villa is a tough opponent, Lemina may be a player that EPL managers can hold on to in the long term. It’s rare to find a top 10 positional player still on the EPL waiver wire.
Wilfred Ndidi – Midfielder – 31% Rostered – Leicester vs Everton
Ndidi is known as a defensive midfielder, but he had two assists last game and one in the previous. He’s currently a top-15 midfielder. Ndidi is going to grab stats, so even without assists or goals, he’ll come with steady points. Leicester has a good matchup as well, as they host struggling Everton, who has yet to win and have conceded 13 goals.
Dara O’Shea – Defender – 1% Rostered – Southampton vs Ipswich
O’Shea put up serious points in a solid shoutout draw against Brighton. On paper, Brighton was heavy favorites, but Ipswich held strong, led by O’Shea and Jacob Greaves (also a good option). It was O’Shea’s debut, and Fantrax managers would be wise to grab him now while he’s still available. We don’t know if he’ll be consistently this good, but it’s definitely worth a chance on the EPL Waiver Wire.
Be sure you’re checking injuries and rotations, especially after Champions League games.
Good luck!
