Before we get into my Week 5 wide receiver sleepers and streamers, we have a lot to recap from the week. Ja’Marr Chase left early last week with a concussion and should be monitored going forward. Rashee Rice also left early with a hamstring injury, and Ladd McConkey also left with a foot injury. These are some big names, and if they miss some time, then you will have a big position slot to fill.

Week 5 Wide Receiver Sleepers
Jaylen Waddle, Denver Broncos (at Los Angeles Chargers)
Jaylen Waddle honestly shouldn’t be a sleeper, but it has taken some time for him to take off in this offense. He got his first touchdown last week but only had 35 yards. The good thing is he is getting a ton of targets. Through four weeks, Waddle has 26 targets and Courtland Sutton has 22. But if Waddle is to have his “welcome to the team” game, it will be this week against the Chargers. The Chargers’ defense is giving up 28.3 fantasy points per game to wide receivers and is down Derwin James Jr. at safety.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts (at Pittsburgh Steelers)
Josh Downs is supposed to be going off as he has no competition, but that hasn’t been the case. This week will be different, though. Keenan Allen and Alec Pierce will be out this week, leaving Downs to feast by himself. The Steelers just let rookie Denzel Boston reel in 89 receiving yards, along with KC Concepcion going for 64. I expect Downs to have his breakout game as the Colts will need to look somewhere through the air.
Romeo Doubs, New England Patriots (vs. Las Vegas Raiders)
Romeo Doubs had a huge game last week, bringing in two touchdowns and 58 receiving yards. The Patriots looked like they got their groove back last week and can keep it rolling this week against the Raiders. The Raiders’ secondary has been strong to start the year, but they still let Tyquan Thornton go for 111 yards and two touchdowns. This can be a sneaky game from Doubs as he is the WR1 on this team.
Week 5 Wide Receiver Streamers
Roman Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. Indianapolis Colts)
Roman Wilson is trending up as a flex start. He has six targets in every game this year and is coming off back-to-back touchdown games. Michael Pittman Jr. has been a non-factor in this offense, and Wilson will keep getting work.
Troy Franklin, Denver Broncos (at Los Angeles Chargers)
This one is a bit of a long shot, but Pat Bryant suffered a sprained ankle and is expected to miss a few weeks. This moved Troy Franklin into the WR3 spot for the Broncos. If there is ever a time for Franklin to sneak in a touchdown game, it will be against the Chargers.
Malachi Fields, New York Giants (at Washington Commanders)
Malachi Fields snagged his first touchdown of the season last week. The numbers were not pretty, but it is good to see him be a part of this offense. Through three weeks, Fields has been on the field for 74% of offensive snaps. So, the usage is there; it is just a matter of time until Jameis Winston starts targeting Fields. This is a great week for it, as the Commanders are giving up 33.1 fantasy points per game to wide receivers.
