The EPL Waiver Wire continues to offer value week in and week out. Week 9 is no different.
In case you needed a reminder, matchups should be driving your decisions each week. The bottom four team each lost again, for at least the 2nd game in a row. None of the teams have a win yet. Choose accordingly.
Week 8 suggestion Georginio Rutter had an assist last game, and he’s still only rostered in about 50%. Abdoulaye Doucoure was solid, and his defensive teammates were also of high quality.
Week 9 EPL Waiver wire suggestions (under 50% rostered) are listed in order from most to least rostered.
Week 9 Fantasy EPL Draft Waiver Wire
John Stones – Defender – 49% Rostered – Manchester City vs Southampton
Stones, who falls just under the 50% cut-off, scored a massive goal in stoppage time to get the points for City against last-place Wolves. City continues to deal with injuries, so there’s a good chance he will start again. City hosts 19th-place Southampton, who have scored just six goals this season. There aren’t many available City players and normally I’m not high on City defenders, who don’t always score well. But it’s a great matchup, and he’s got two goals. I’m watching Matheus Nunes too, who had a great game midweek in the Champions League.
Elliot Anderson – Midfielder – 33% Rostered – Leicester vs Nottingham Forest
Anderson had a stellar game last week against Crystal Palace. He was on corners and kicks, with Morgan Gibbs-White and James Ward-Prowse out. He might stay on kicks too. He’s playing as a box-to-box midfielder, so he’s getting points on both sides of the ball. Leicester have won two straight, but Anderson is quality for this week and beyond on the EPL Waiver Wire.
Evan Ferguson – Forward – 22% Rostered – Brighton vs Wolves
Ferguson started last week and while his points don’t show it, he was active. Danny Welbeck is a doubt, which means Ferguson would be the front man against the worst team in the league. He started alongside Welbeck in the previous game, so there’s good chances of him playing. Wolves did look better against City, but still have conceded more than other team in the EPL, giving up almost three goals per game.
Murillo – Defender – 9% Rostered – Leicester vs Nottingham Forest
Elliot Anderson’s defensive teammates have been stellar. And really you could pick any here. Forest have the second-best goals against record on the season, behind only Liverpool. That’s impressive. They have three clean sheets (including one against Liverpool), and only Brighton have scored more than a goal. Like Anderson, Murillo and his defensive teammates could be solid players with decent floors and solid ceilings.
