Week 9 Fantasy Hockey Goalie Streams

With a number of goalies having up-and-down seasons, it’s a good time to look at some starter options that got passed over in drafts. This week is a good one to stream a goalie even if they aren’t on the best team. So let’s take a look at some of the best goalie streamers for Week 9.

Fantasy Hockey Week 9 Goalie Streams

Karel Vejmelka, Utah HC

Karel Vejmelka has been one of the hottest goalies in the NHL as of late and he’s holding Utah together at the moment. While the team is unfortunately not winning a ton, the potential is there and the young team can score. Vejmelka is giving Utah some strong starts and has two wins in his last four games. He is being treated as the undoubted starter while Connor Ingram is on the shelf.

Utah HC has three games this week. The first comes against the Dallas Stars which isn’t that easy of a matchup, but then Vejmelka will have some rest before playing one of the average Buffalo Sabres or Philadelphia Flyers. He is a good option to hold onto for as long as Ingram is injured. Vejmelka is getting a ton of starts in the meantime and has a .913 SV% over the last two weeks. For the season, Utah’s current starter has a 2.41 GAA and .917 SV%.

Elvis Merzlikins, Columbus Blue Jackets

Elvis Merzlikins put up another win, this one coming against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. He is now 8-5-2 and has won six of his last seven starts. The Columbus Blue Jackets’ starter may have a sub-.900 SV%, but he is getting the job done behind a young and hungry team that is playing hard every night and scoring lots of goals to support him.

The Blue Jackets play four times this week, starting with the Calgary Flames, then moving onto a back-to-back with the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks, and finishing up against the Winnipeg Jets. That looks more daunting than it is. The Flames are shaky right now, the Oilers and Canucks haven’t been as good at home, and the Jets have lost four of the past five games in regulation, so there’s very much a chance for Columbus to have a good week. Expect Merzlikins to start three games and if you need wins, he may be your best option overall.

Petr Mrazek, Chicago Blackhawks

Petr Mrazek is coming off back-to-back losses, but the good news is that he has had a strong season and the Blackhawks are starting to find their groove offensively and put more goals on the board to support him. Mrazek is bound to bounce back and he will have a good chance with games against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, and Jets.

While the Maple Leafs are a threat, he won’t play back-to-back and rather likely guard the crease against the Bruins and Jets. We already discussed the struggles of the Jets recently, but the Bruins have had a very tough time scoring goals this season. This will help Mrazek’s numbers and allow him to get back on track in his next game. He still has a .911 SV% on the season which is really solid.
